Joining Triple-A Williams is being promoted to Triple-A Syracuse, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports.

Impact Williams will move up to Triple-A after producing a .281 average with 10 home runs, 37 RBI, 70 runs scored and 32 stolen bases over 96 games with Double-A Binghamton this season. The 21-year-old is considered to be the Mets' top overall prospect, and he is now just one stop away from making his major-league debut.

Joining Triple-A The Mets promoted Williams from Double-A Binghamton to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday, Pat Ragazzo of SI.com reports.

Impact Williams will move up to Triple-A after slashing .281/.390/.477 with 10 home runs and 32 stolen bases over 96 games with Binghamton this season. Regarded as one of the Mets' top prospects, the 21-year-old Williams likely won't be in the mix for anything more than a September call-up, but he could emerge as an everyday player for the big club at some point in 2026.

Impact The 21-year-old top prospect has been simply destroying baseballs this week, going 8-for-15 over his last four games, and incredibly all eight knocks have gone for extra bases -- four double, two triples and two homers. Williams is blocked at his natural shortstop position by Francisco Lindor, but he's seen time at second base and center field this season, and the latter spot might provide his clearest path to a starting job in the majors for the Mets. Williams is slashing .298/.407/.530 for Binghamton with six homers, 18 steals and a 31:42 BB:K in 52 contests, and a promotion to Triple-A Syracuse seems imminent.

Overcomes injury Williams (head) has gone 5-for-11 with two home runs, three doubles, three walks, four RBI and four runs in three starts since rejoining the Double-A Binghamton lineup Sunday.

Impact After being pulled from a game last Friday after being hit on the helmet by a fastball in his first plate appearance of the night, Williams missed just one game before returning to action Sunday. The 21-year-old shortstop has exhibited no ill effects since his return and is now slashing .288/.397/.497 with six home runs and 17 stolen bases over 209 plate appearances on the season. A promotion to Triple-A Syracuse may not be too far down the road for Williams.

Impact Williams struggled to stay healthy last year, playing 33 total games and 22 games at Double-A, where he hit .172 with zero home runs. His performance this year is much more in line with expectations, as he is putting his 70-grade speed to use on the bases while showcasing his sneaky pop out of a strong 5-foot-7 frame. Williams has started 15 games at shortstop, two games in center field and one game at second base.

Shifted to minor-league camp The Mets reassigned Williams to minor-league camp Tuesday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact Following an injury-riddled 2024 season, Williams appeared in seven Grapefruit League games this spring, going 2-for-11 with an RBI, a run scored and four walks. He'll most likely begin the 2025 campaign at Triple-A Syracuse and could crack the big leagues later this season if his performance holds up.

Nets spring invite The Mets have extended Williams an invitation to major-league camp during spring training.

Impact Fellow top prospects Ryan Clifford and Brandon Sproat will join Williams on the big-league side of spring camp. Williams, 21, missed four months of the 2024 season due to wrist surgery and slashed only .215/.358/.298 with zero home runs and five steals in 33 games across three levels. However, Williams remains an intriguing Dynasty option due to his on-base skills and speed. He's pegged for Triple-A Syracuse to begin the season, but a bounce-back year could have him pushing to debut sometime in 2025.

Sprains ankle in AFL Williams was diagnosed with a sprained right ankle Thursday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact Williams left Thursday's Arizona Fall League contest after running into the outfield fence. The severity of the sprain is not yet known, but the issue is not expected to interfere with his offseason work.

Impact With Binghamton's season coming to a close Sunday, Williams will get his first taste of Triple-A during the upcoming week as he looks to pick up more at-bats while a wrist procedure has kept him out for much of the 2024 campaign. Impact Williams went four months between his injury and the beginning of his rehab assignment after needing a triangular fibrocartilage complex debridement procedure in his right wrist. The ever patient shortstop hit .250 with four walks, three strikeouts, two steals and zero extra-base hits in five rehab games. Williams has proven to be an on-base machine (career .417 OBP), as he knows the strike zone very well, but he also has plus-plus speed and good bat speed at the plate, so he could turn into a five-category contributor in fantasy.

Kicking off rehab assignment Williams (wrist) is scheduled to begin a rehab assignment with Single-A St. Lucie on Wednesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Impact For the first time in four months, Williams will appear in a game after a lengthy recovery from right wrist surgery. He had gotten off to a slow start to the season with Double-A Binghamton prior to getting hurt, batting just .179 with four extra-base hits and two stolen bases over 50 plate appearances, though he drew eight walks while striking out just five times. Given the length of his absence, Williams could remain on the rehab assignment through the weekend before potentially returning from Binghamton's 60-day injured list next week.

Sent to minor-league camp The Mets reassigned Williams to minor-league spring training Sunday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Impact The 20-year-old has received reps at shortstop and in center field during the first couple weeks of big-league camp, but he'll shift to the minor-league side after the first round of roster cuts. Williams is the Mets' top prospect and should open 2024 at Double-A Binghampton after he split most of last season between the Single-A and High-A levels, where he had an .876 OPS in 410 at-bats.

Moving up to Double-A Williams has been promoted from High-A Brooklyn to Double-A Binghamton, Michael Mayer of MetsmerizedOnline.com reports.

Impact Williams was better at Brooklyn following a midseason promotion than he was at Low-A St. Lucie, collecting a .266/.431/.461 batting line with 13 home runs, 44 stolen bases and a 108:102 K:BB over 115 games between the two stops. The excellent showing has earned him a late-season look at the Double-A level, which is quite impressive considering he won't turn 20 until November. Williams has mostly played shortstop this season but can also handle center field.

Jumping to High-A The Mets promoted Williams from Single-A St. Lucie to High-A Brooklyn on Sunday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Impact Williams primarily played shortstop for St. Lucie but also saw action in center field, and he'll now move up to Brooklyn. The 19-year-old is one of New York's top prospects and had a .248/.421/.399 slash line with five home runs and 32 stolen bases in 78 games at the Single-A level.

Impact The 19-year-old speedster has made 48 starts at shortstop and 12 starts in center field thus far in his full-season debut. Williams is 25-for-31 (80.7 percent success rate) on stolen-base attempts through 65 games and has been dialed in at the plate of late.

Impact The 19-year-old shortstop has a strong batted-ball profile, with a 32 percent groundball rate and all-fields approach, but it hasn't translated into a high batting average in the early going. Even as an undersized 5-foot-6 middle infielder, Williams is strong where it counts and is expected to eventually develop notable over-the-fence power to go with his 70-grade speed.
