Blue Jays acquire pitcher Jeremy Beasley from the Diamondbacks, Thomas Hatch goes to the 60-day Injured List The Blue Jays have added some pitching depth.

Traded to Blue Jays Beasley was traded from the Diamondbacks to the Blue Jays for cash considerations Thursday, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.

Impact Beasley began the season at the Diamondbacks' alternate training site and was designated for assignment Saturday. The right-hander will now report to Toronto's alternate camp and should mainly serve as organizational depth in 2021. Beasley made 26 appearances (25 starts) in Double-A and Triple-A in 2019 and recorded a 4.49 ERA and 1.45 WHIP in 122.1 innings.

Designated for assignment Beasley was designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks on Saturday.

Impact Beasley was sent down by the Diamondback in mid-March and will now be removed from the 40-man roster to make room for outfielder Nick Heath, who was acquired from the Royals in a corresponding move. Optioned to Triple-A Beasley (shoulder) was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

Impact The 25-year-old missed the last weeks of the 2020 campaign with a shoulder strain and won't make the Opening Day roster. Beasley made his way to Triple-A late in 2019 and posted a 7.90 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 13:6 K:BB over 13.2 innings.

Shut down with shoulder strain The Diamondbacks placed Beasley on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a right shoulder strain, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

Impact Beasley hasn't appeared out of the Arizona bullpen since making his MLB debut Tuesday in Colorado, where he retired one of the three hitters he faced before exiting. According to Piecoro, the right-hander showed lower-than-normal velocity in that outing, which was likely caused by the shoulder injury. Arizona recalled Joel Payamps to take Beasley's spot in the bullpen.
