Impact Though Davis received multiple X-rays on that returned negative after he was struck on the left hand by a pitch Tuesday, the Mets still elected to place him on the IL on Saturday to give him some time to recover from the bruise. Davis noted that while he doesn't feel affected by the injury in the field, he'll still need the swelling on his hand to subside before he's completely comfortable swinging a bat. Luis Guillorme filled in for Davis at third base in Sunday's game against the Marlins.

Impact Davis was hit by a pitch on his left hand Tuesday, and his X-rays were negative. However, he'll still require additional time on the shelf to fully recover. Jonathan Villar and Luis Guillorme should fill in at third base in his absence. Jose Peraza's contract was selected by the Mets in a corresponding move.

Impact Though the initial X-rays Davis underwent Tuesday revealed no structural damage, he apparently had too much inflammation on his hand for the scans to get a clear image. Davis will sit out Wednesday's game in Philadelphia, but the Mets are still viewing him as day-to-day heading into this weekend's series with Miami.
