Impact It was a forgettable day for Kelenic and for the Mariners as a whole as the Astros absolutely embarrassed them. Kelenic, who had 48 strikeouts through his first 35 games at the major-league level, had been showing massive strides at the plates in August with 10:9 BB:K through his first 16 games. Friday's effort was his first time with four strikeouts in a game and the first instance with more than two punchouts since July 26. Kelenic is still struggling overall to a slash line of .147/.244/.272 with six homers, 20 RBI, 20 runs scored and three steals in 54 games. It's unlikely the Mariners send him down again but he definitely needs another offseason to get himself properly prepared for major league pitching.
