Joins Yankees on minors deal Kelenic signed a minor-league contract with the Yankees on Saturday, Conor Foley of YES Network reports.
Impact Once considered a top prospect in the sport, Kelenic fizzled out with Seattle and has bounced around in the years since. He has played in 36 big-league games this season between the White Sox and Rangers, slashing .219/.313/.288 in 83 plate appearances. It's not completely out of the question that he could join the parent club in September, but Kelenic appears set to join Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the time being.

Becomes free agent Kelenic elected to become a free agent Tuesday.
Impact After passing through waivers following his removal from the Rangers' 40-man roster, Kelenic has decided to test out free agency rather than accepting an outright assignment. The outfielder previously chose the same route before eventually re-signing with Texas, so that could happen again.
AUGUST 26 • ROTOWIRE
Removed from 40-man roster The Rangers designated Kelenic for assignment Sunday.
Impact Kelenic has now been cast off 40-man rosters on three occasions, with the Rangers DFAing him the last two times. The 27-year-old outfielder has slashed just .219/.313/.288 with one home run, six RBI and five runs across 83 plate appearances at the big-league level this season between stops with the White Sox and Rangers. He's unlikely to get claimed off waivers and could elect free agency once he clears.

Impact After recently re-signing with Texas on a minor-league contract, Kelenic is back with the big-league club. The 26-year-old last appeared in the majors on June 28. With the White Sox and Rangers this season, Kelenic has posted a .213/.304/.295 with one home run and four RBI in 69 plate appearances. Texas designated Jonah Bride for assignment to make room for Kelenic on both the 26- and 40-man rosters.
AUGUST 11 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to Rangers on MiLB deal The Rangers re-signed Kelenic to a minor-league contract Wednesday.
Impact Kelenic has posted a 1.110 OPS in 28 games with Triple-A Round Rock this season but has just a .599 OPS in 26 contests in the majors with the White Sox and Rangers. The former top prospect will give Texas some experienced outfield depth at Round Rock.
JULY 30 • ROTOWIRE
Released by Rangers Kelenic was released by the Rangers on Sunday, Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com reports.
Impact Kelenic will become a free agent after posting a .374 average with five home runs, 17 RBI, 30 runs scored and seven stolen bases over 107 at-bats in 27 contests with Triple-A Round Rock. The outfielder hasn't shown the ability to produce consistently at the major-league level, but his minor-league production will likely lead to a new suitor in the near future.

Kelenic, who signed with the organization earlier this month, slashed .340/.431/.620 with three home runs, 11 RBI, three steals and 12 runs over 59 plate appearances at Round Rock before getting back to the majors.

MAY 25 • ROTOWIRE
Taking seat against southpaw Kelenic is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Giants.
Impact The Giants are sending southpaw Robbie Ray to the hill for the series finale, so the left-handed-hitting Kelenic will head to the bench. Derek Hill will replace Kelenic in right field and will bat seventh.
MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Earning consistent playing time Kelenic went 1-for-2 with a double and a run scored Saturday against the Giants.
Impact Kelenic started for the 16th time in the White Sox's last 19 games and returned to the lineup after a one-game absence caused by a back injury. He led off the fifth inning with a double and came around to score, but he was ultimately pulled in the seventh inning when a lefty reliever entered the game. Kelenic has had spurts of production in his return to the majors, but he has struck out at a 50 percent rate across his last 10 contests.
MAY 24 • ROTOWIRE
Back in action Kelenic (back) is starting in right field and batting sixth Saturday against the Giants.
Impact He was scratched from Friday's lineup with a lower-back contusion but is back in action against righty Adrian Houser. Kelenic is hitting .179 with one home run and 15 strikeouts in his last 10 games.
