The Astros will start Luis Garcia on Wednesday while the Angels are expected to counter with Janson Junk

Receiving another start
Junk will start Wednesday's game against the Astros, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact
The 25-year-old gave up one earned run in 4.1 frames during his previous start last week, and it appeared he was set to lose his rotation spot with Alex Cobb back from the injured list. Junk will instead receive at least one more turn through the rotation. He's allowed two earned runs on nine hits with four strikeouts and one walk in eight innings across his first two big-league starts.

Solid on limited pitch count
Junk allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks while striking out two across 4.1 innings Wednesday against the White Sox. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact
Junk was only allowed to throw 61 pitches, but he managed improved results as compared to his major-league debut. The only run he allowed came on a solo home run by Yoan Moncada in the fourth inning. Junk excelled at consistently finding the strike zone, as 40 of his 61 pitches went for strikes. Though the outing was positive, Junk may lose his spot in the rotation due to the imminent return of Alex Cobb (finger).

Making second start
Junk is scheduled to start Wednesday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
Impact
Junk will pick up a second start after he made his big-league debut Sept. 5 against the Rangers, covering 3.2 innings while giving up five runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk to take a loss. The Halos could get Alex Cobb (finger) back from the injured list for Thursday's series finale in Chicago, so unless the team expands its rotation back to six men, Junk may not draw any additional starts beyond Wednesday's outing.

Junk scheduled to start for Angels at White Sox
The White Sox will roll out Dallas Keuchel to the mound Wednesday and the Angels plan to give Janson Junk the start

Struggles in MLB debut
Junk (0-1) allowed five runs (one earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out two across 3.2 innings, taking the loss to the Rangers on Sunday.
Impact
Junk surrendered a pair of home runs to DJ Peters. He struggled to get through the fourth inning, but the four runs in that frame came after a throwing error by Luis Rengifo and didn't count toward Junk's ERA. The 25-year-old isn't not a highly coveted prospect and shouldn't be on most radars for now.

Junk expected to start for Los Angeles against Texas
The Angels will roll out Janson Junk to the mound Sunday and the Rangers plan to give Taylor Hearn the start
SEPTEMBER 5, 2021

Associated Press
Debut coming Sunday
Junk will make his MLB debut as the starter for Sunday's game against the Rangers.
Impact
Junk came over from the Yankees at the trade deadline in a deal which sent Andrew Heaney to the Bronx. Junk isn't a particularly highly-rated prospect and has struggled to a 5.27 ERA in five starts for Double-A Rocket City, an uninspiring mark considering how old he is (25) for that level. His combination of a 24.0 percent strikeout rate and 5.8 percent walk rate over those outings suggests he likely deserved better results, though those are hardly the numbers of a pitcher who looks ready to dominate at the highest level.

Earns call-up
Junk will be called up to the Angels on Friday, MLB.com freelancer Matt Kardos reports.
Impact
Junk was acquired from the Yankees as part of a package for Andrew Heaney on July 30. The right-hander has posted a 5.27 ERA and 1.43 WHIP across five starts for Los Angeles' Double-A squad, but he has looked better of late, registering a 16:2 K:BB and 3.68 ERA over his past two outings. It is unclear what move will be made to clear room for Junk on the 40-man roster.
