INJURIES

Goes five innings in loss Junk (6-8) took the loss against Philadelphia on Monday, allowing two runs on eight hits and two walks while striking out two batters over five innings.
Impact Both of the runs Junk allowed came in the third inning, when he walked two batters and yielded three hits. The left-hander was inefficient overall, needing 88 pitches to get through five frames, but he still managed to keep Miami in the contest against All-Star Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez. Junk has given up two or fewer runs in each of his past five starts, posting a strong 2.28 ERA with a 15:6 K:BB over 23.2 innings during that stretch. He's lined up to make his next appearance at home against Washington.

Six strong innings in win Junk (6-7) earned the win Wednesday against Pittsburgh, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out two over six innings.
Impact Junk pitched his longest start since before his shin injury that kept him out for all on June and some of July. Since Junk only pitched three innings last outing because of a rain delay, his arm was fresh and he threw 81 pitches with 56 of them for strikes. The righty has pitched way better at home this season with a 3.83 ERA versus a 5.35 one on the road. The 30-year-old is scheduled to throw in Philadelphia next week.

Lifted after rain delay Junk (5-7) took the loss against Atlanta on Thursday, allowing two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out one batter over three innings.
Impact Junk threw 47 pitches (26 strikes) before a rain delay held up the game for over an hour. That was enough for Marlins manager Clayton McCullough to decide not to put Junk at risk of an injury by sending him back out to the mound when play resumed. The two runs Junk gave up were on a home run by Ronald Acuna, though the homer was the result of two Marlins outfielders colliding while trying to make the catch and popping the ball over the wall. While this was Junk's shortest outing of the campaign, that obviously comes with an asterisk due to the impact of the weather. The right-hander's arm should at least be relatively fresh the next time he takes the mound, which is projected to be in a matchup versus Pittsburgh.
AUGUST 7 • ROTOWIRE
Tallies fifth win of 2026 Junk (5-6) earned the win against the Mets on Friday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and two walks while striking out four across five innings.
Impact The lone run Junk gave up in the fifth inning was unearned due to fielding error by Kyle Stowers, and it was the first time since April 28 against the Dodgers that Junk did not yield an earned run in a start. The right-hander is one win shy from matching his total from 2025 and sits at a 4.58 ERA and 1.33 WHIP across 78.2 innings this season. Junk is lined up to face Atlanta on the road next week.
AUGUST 1 • ROTOWIRE
Lasts 4.2 innings in no-decision Junk did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Padres, allowing one run on seven hits while striking out six over 4.2 innings.
Impact Junk threw 55 of his 75 pitches for strikes and matched his season high with six strikeouts despite generating only four whiffs. He was one strike away from completing five scoreless innings before Manny Machado ripped an RBI double in the fifth, ending both the shutout and Junk's outing. Through three starts since returning from a right shin injury, the right-hander has allowed nine runs (eight earned) across 13.2 innings. Junk owns a 4.89 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 57:20 K:BB over 73.2 innings this season and is scheduled to make his next start on the road against the Mets.

Allows six runs in sixth loss Junk (4-6) took the loss Monday, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks over four innings against Houston. He struck out three.
Impact Junk was tagged in the second inning, surrendering all six of his runs in the frame, including a grand slam to Jeremy Pena. Monday marked Junk's second start since returning from a right shin injury, with his previous outing July 9 against Seattle going considerably better after he allowed one earned run across five innings to earn the win. The right-hander will take a 5.09 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 51:20 K:BB across 69 innings (13 starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Sunday against San Diego.

Earns win in return start Junk (4-5) earned the win Thursday against the Mariners, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out five over five innings.
Impact Making his first start since May 25 after returning from the injured list, Junk was surprisingly stretched out to 79 pitches (48 strikes). He allowed Josh Naylor to score on his own throwing error in the second inning, while his only earned run came on a Randy Arozarena solo homer in the fifth. Prior to landing on the injured list, he owned a 4.80 ERA and 1.30 WHIP across 11 starts. Thursday's command was shaky, issuing a season-high four walks, but Junk's performance should build confidence moving into the second half of the season.

Back from IL to start Thursday The Marlins activated Junk (shin) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Impact Junk will rejoin the Marlins' rotation with a start Thursday against the Mariners after being sidelined since late May with right shin bone inflammation. The right-hander made two rehab starts and threw 61 pitches in his last outing, so he will not have a full workload at his disposal versus Seattle.

Impact Junk has been sidelined since late May with right shin bone inflammation, but he convinced the Marlins he was ready to go by yielding two runs with a 6:0 K:BB over 5.2 innings in two rehab starts with Triple-A Jacksonville. The right-hander threw 61 pitches in his last rehab outing, so Junk will be fairly limited from a workload perspective against Seattle.
JULY 8 • ROTOWIRE
Hits 60-pitch mark in rehab Junk (shin) struck out three and allowed one earned run on five hits and no walks across three innings Saturday in a rehab start for Triple-A Jacksonville.
Impact The right-hander made his second rehab appearance at Triple-A after he was sent to the 15-day injured list May 31 due to right shin bone inflammation. He built up to 61 pitches (37 strikes) in Saturday's outing and averaged 93.8 mph with his four-seam fastball, about a half-tick behind his season-long average prior to landing on the shelf. Per Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com, Junk completed a pitch-design session in front of the Marlins' coaching and training staff Tuesday, and if he checks out fine following that workout, he could fill the opening in the Miami rotation in Thursday's series finale versus the Mariners.

Impact Junk got his pitch count up to 42 during in his first appearance in more than a month. The right-hander collected a 4.80 ERA and 43:13 K:BB over 60 frames covering 11 starts before he got hurt.

Completes pitch-design session Junk (shin) threw a pitch-design session Friday and could be cleared to face hitters in live batting practice during the upcoming week, MLB.com reports.
Impact Junk seems to be making good progress in his recovery from a right shin bone inflammation, which sent him to the injured list May 31. Junk may need just one start in the minors before slotting back into the Miami rotation, potentially in the first week of July.

Winds up on 15-day IL The Marlins placed Junk on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to right shin inflammation, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact Junk becomes the third Miami starter to hit the shelf in less than a month, joining Robby Snelling (elbow) and Eury Perez (hamstring). According to De Nicola, Junk is projected to miss 2-to-3 weeks due to the injury, with a more definitive target date for his return to become more apparent as he moves through his throwing program. As a result of Junk being scratched from his scheduled start Sunday against the Mets, the Marlins will have left-hander John King open the game in what will be a bullpen day for Miami.
MAY 31 • ROTOWIRE
Not starting, could hit IL Junk is no longer scheduled to start Sunday's game against the Mets and is being evaluated for a potential stint on the injured list, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.
Impact The Marlins haven't provided any details regarding what kind of physical issue Junk is dealing with, but he doesn't look like he'll be available out of the bullpen once opening pitcher John King exits the game. Miami is instead likely to treat the series finale in New York as a bullpen day, with a number of relievers likely to work behind King. Junk has been a staple in the Miami rotation this season, making 11 starts while posting a 3-5 record, 4.80 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 43:13 K:BB in 60 innings.
