Impact After Shelby Miller coughed up a two-run lead in the ninth, Beeks was called upon in the 10th inning and bagged his first save since Sept. 11, 2024. The Arizona southpaw allowed the automatic runner to score but secured the victory on 20 total pitches. With Justin Martinez (shoulder) and A.J. Puk (elbow) on the injured list, Miller had looked like the presumptive closer; however, with Beeks' steady performance over 18.2 innings with a 1.93 ERA and 17:6 K:BB, he may garner additional save opportunities.

Impact Beeks was hit by a comebacker Thursday versus the Rays, but his X-rays were negative and he ultimately didn't need any more than one day off to recover. However, his performance Saturday was off. He threw 16 of 28 pitches for strikes and allowed Atlanta to rally for the lead three runs in the eighth inning. This was just the second outing in which Beeks has given up a run, which has lifted him into a high-leverage role as a setup man over the last two weeks. He's posted a 2.25 ERA, 0.94 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB while adding four holds and a 1-0 record over 16 innings. Beeks saw some late-inning work in 2024, logging 10 saves and eight holds between the Rockies and the Pirates, so this role isn't anything new to him.

Impact Beeks is not expected to miss any time. That's obviously good news for the Diamondbacks, who are dealing with a couple of issues in the bullpen. That includes an elbow injury to A.J. Puk -- a recent report from Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic suggests a lengthy absence -- and Justin Martinez experiencing fatigue.
