INJURIES

No-decision Saturday Odorizzi didn't factor into the decision Saturday against the Athletics after allowing three runs on seven hits and a walk across 4.2 innings, fanning three.
Impact Odorizzi ended a streak of six straight appearances allowing two or fewer runs, and this was his fourth straight no-decision as well. He posted a 3.15 ERA through his five appearances since the beginning of September, but his season-long ERA was a 4.21 mark through 104.2 innings across 24 appearances (23 starts).

Goes four innings in return Odorizzi got a no-decision in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Oakland, allowing one run on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in four innings.
Impact Making his first start following a short IL stint, Odorizzi pitched well in permitting only one run but had traffic on the bases each inning and was limited to 82 pitches. The 31-year-old hasn't gone six innings in a start since early July and will likely get one final tune-up before the postseason next weekend against Oakland again.

Activated for start Odorizzi (foot) was activated from the 10-day injured list, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports. He will start Sunday's game against Oakland.
Impact As expected, the veteran righty comes off the IL to start the series finale in Oakland. His injury, labeled right foot soreness, proved to be minor and he should have no limitations (apart from his typically short leash) in the outing. Odorizzi fills the roster spot of Seth Martinez, whom the Astros optioned to the taxi squad Sunday.

Impact Odorizzi has been on the injured list since Sept. 14 due to right foot soreness, and he'll return to the major-league club after a brief stay on the injured list. Across his last five starts prior to the injury, he recorded a 2.45 ERA and 1.14 WHIP in 22 innings.

Optimistic for short IL stint Odorizzi (foot) is optimistic he will be able to return once his stint on the 10-day injured list is up, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact The right-hander was placed on the 10-day IL on Tuesday after what he has described as a "flukey" right foot injury. After ruling out the initial concern of a Linsfranc injury, he was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain. The earliest the 31-year-old could return is Sept. 24, which he seems confident he can do.

Astros starter Odorizzi to 10-day IL after covering first

The AL West-leading Houston Astros have put starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi on the 10-day injured list with right foot soreness
SEPTEMBER 14, 2021 • Associated Press
IL bound with foot soreness Odorizzi was placed on the 10-day injured list Tuesday with right foot soreness, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Manager Dusty Baker revealed following Monday's win that Odorizzi couldn't put any weight on his right foot after exiting the game in the second inning. With that in mind, it's not surprising to see him land on the injured list. The full severity of the injury should become more clear in coming days, but the move to the IL will keep the right-hander sidelined until at least the Sept. 24 game against the Athletics. Houston was previously expected to transition back to a six-man rotation with Zack Greinke (undisclosed) returning from the COVID-19 IL on Tuesday, but the club will likely continue using five starters with Odorizzi on the shelf.

Could miss time with foot injury Astros manager Dusty Baker said after Monday's 15-1 win over the Rangers that Odorizzi will need to be "analyzed" after the right-hander exited in the second inning with right foot...
Impact Baker noted that Odorizzi couldn't put any weight on the foot when the training staff visited him on the mound before pulling him from the contest, so the 31-year-old is seemingly far from a safe bet to make his next turn through the rotation Sunday in Arizona. Houston was prepared to expand its rotation to six men with Zack Greinke returning from the COVID-19 injured list Tuesday, so the Astros could simply scale back to five starters if Odorizzi isn't ready to go by the time the weekend arrives.

Diagnosed with foot soreness Odorizzi left Monday's start against the Rangers due to right foot soreness, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Impact Odorizzi appeared to suffer the injury while covering first base, though initial indications bring positive news. He allowed two hits and struck out one across 1.1 scoreless frames prior to being lifted.
