Crushed by Padres Junis allowed six earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out three across 2.1 innings Wednesday against the Padres. He did not factor into the decision.
Impact Junis got through two scoreless innings, but he allowed the first seven batters he faced to reach base in the third frame before being yanked. Despite being in the rotation consistently since the All-Star break, Junis has yet to work more than 4.1 innings in four outings. He's also allowed 10 earned runs across 14.1 innings in that span, inflating his overall ERA to 3.78 across 64.1 frames for the season.

Takes loss in short outing Junis (4-3) allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across 3.2 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Dodgers.
Impact Junis surrendered only one run before being pulled, but he labored throughout the start. He allowed multiple baserunners in each of his last three frames and needed 79 pitches to record 14 outs. Junis has failed to complete more than 4.1 innings in any of his three starts since being activated from the injured list July 16. Overall, he has a 3.05 ERA with a 53:14 K:BB across 62 innings for the season.

Solid in four-inning start Junis allowed five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in four scoreless innings, taking a no-decision Saturday versus the Cubs.
Impact Junis stretched out to 74 pitches, but he wasn't very efficient with them in throwing only 45 strikes in this outing. He was at least able to keep runs off the board for the first time in three appearances since returning from a hamstring injury. The 29-year-old owns a 2.78 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 48:12 K:BB through 58.1 innings in 12 outings (nine starts) this year. Junis is projected for a tough home start versus the Dodgers next week.

Takes loss Monday Junis (4-2) allowed a run on three hits, a walk and a hit batter with two strikeouts in 4.1 innings, taking the loss Monday versus the Diamondbacks.
Impact Junis allowed more baserunners than the Giants contributed in the entire contest, and he received no run support in his first start since June 10. The right-hander wasn't bad, but he was limited to 62 pitches (38 strikes) as he continues to build back up after missing over a month with a hamstring strain. He's been generally effective with a 2.98 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 44:11 K:BB through 54.1 innings in 11 appearances (eight starts) this season. He's projected for a home start versus the Cubs this weekend, though it's likely Junis will still have a workload restriction for at least a couple more outings.

In rotation to begin second half Junis is slated to start Monday's game in Arizona.
Impact After he was reinstated from the injured list July 16, Junis was available out of the bullpen for the Giants' final two games before the All-Star break since the team was able to temporarily get by with a four-man rotation. With San Francisco opening its post-break schedule with five games in five days, Junis will slot back into the rotation, though he could have a workload restriction Monday. Before making a two-inning relief appearance following his return from the IL a week and a half ago, Junis covered only two frames in both of his minor-league rehab outings.

Covers two innings in relief Junis tossed two innings out of the bullpen in Sunday's 9-5 win over the Brewers, giving up three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out two.
Impact Before landing on the injured list in mid-June with a Grade 2 hamstring strain, Junis had been working as a starter, but the Giants chose to ease him back in a relief role after he was activated Saturday. Though Junis struggled in his appearance out of the bullpen, he should be the leading candidate to jump back into the rotation when the Giants first require a fifth starter coming out of the All-Star break. Through 10 appearances (seven starts) for the big club in 2022, Junis has posted a 3.06 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 42:10 K:BB in 50 innings.
JULY 18, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Back and available in relief Junis (hamstring) was activated off the injured list Saturday and is expected to pitch out of the bullpen, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact Junis should be able to reclaim his rotation role after the break, but the Giants don't need a starter in either of the final two games of the first half, so he'll pitch in relief for now. He's available for up to 60 pitches in support of Alex Cobb on Saturday against the Brewers. Prior to hitting the injured list with a hamstring strain in mid-June, Junis had recorded a 2.63 ERA in seven starts and two relief appearances.
JULY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Could return Saturday Junis (hamstring) is a candidate to return from the injured list ahead of Saturday's game against the Brewers, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Impact Mauricio Llovera left Friday's game against the Brewers due to a flexor strain, so Junis would likely provide length out of the bullpen if he's ultimately cleared to return Saturday. Alex Cobb and Logan Webb are listed as the probable starters for Saturday and Sunday, respectively, but Junis said that he's built up to approximately 50-60 pitches. The right-hander has made two rehab appearances and has allowed a run on five hits and no walks while striking out four in four innings.
JULY 16, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Slated for rehab start Monday Junis (hamstring) will make a rehab start with the Giants' rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate Monday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Junis threw two innings in a rehab start Thursday and will make another appearance with the rookie-level affiliate Monday. The Giants haven't yet revealed when the right-hander will be able to return, but he should be out through the All-Star break if he requires another rehab appearance following Monday's outing.

Needs more time before live BP Junis (hamstring) is expected to throw two or three more bullpen sessions before he's cleared to face hitters in live batting practice, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News rep...
Impact Junis felt fine after throwing approximately 20 pitches Tuesday at about 75-to-80 percent effort in what marked his first side session since landing on the 15-day injured list June 11. He's scheduled to throw off a mound again Friday, and if that schedule holds, he'll then throw a third bullpen session Monday. Junis could thus be ready to face hitters by next weekend before potentially embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment during the second week of July. That timeline could make it difficult for Junis to make it back before the All-Star break, though his absence is less of an issue with fellow starting pitchers Anthony DeSclafani and Alex Cobb having returned from the IL earlier this month.
JUNE 29, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Completes bullpen session Junis (hamstring) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Impact Junis was ruled out 4-to-6 weeks after suffering a Grade 2 hamstring strain in mid-June, and he's creeping closer to embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment. However, the 29-year-old will first need to advance to facing live batters, and it's unclear when he's expected to do so.

JUNE 15, 2022 • Associated Press
Out 4-to-6 weeks Junis' Grade 2 hamstring strain will keep him out for 4-to-6 weeks, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports.
Impact Junis suffered the injury in his start Friday against the Dodgers. His loss will be a surprisingly significant one for the Giants, as he owns a 2.63 ERA and 0.96 WHIP through nine outings this season. The given timeline means he should return either shortly before or shortly after the All-Star break.
