Impact Cave made six consecutive starts and seven in eight games during a stretch earlier this month, but he seems to be behind all of Byron Buxton, Max Kepler, Nick Gordon and Gilberto Celestino in the pecking order in the outfield. Impact Cave will be picking up his sixth consecutive start Sunday, and he looks as though he could continue to hold down a near-everyday role in the corner outfield until one of Trevor Larnach (core) or Kyle Garlick (rib) returns from the injured list. While cracking the lineup in left or right field in each of the previous five contests, Cave went 6-for-19 with a home run, a triple, a double, a walk, two RBI and two runs.

Impact Cave has posted solid numbers since failing to make the opening day roster, slashing .273/.370/.509 with 14 home runs and 57 RBI for Triple-A St. Paul. He'll provide some much-needed outfield depth with Alex Kirilloff (wrist) on the injured list.

Impact Cave, who was attending camp as a non-roster invitee, is expected to open the 2022 campaign at Triple-A St. Paul. The 29-year-old outfielder saw action in 76 games for the Twins in 2021, slashing .189/.249/.293 with three home runs and one stolen base across 178 plate appearances.

Impact Cave recorded a 106 wRC+ across the first three years of his MLB career but stumbled to a 49 wRC+ last season, the product of a .189/.249/.293 slash line. He could return to his former level as a passable part-time outfielder next season, but he has a modest ceiling to pair with a low floor.
