INJURIES

MRI scheduled Phillies manager Joe Girardi said Arrieta (hamstring) will undergo an MRI on Wednesday, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Impact The Phillies believe Arrieta sustained a Grade 1 right hamstring strain in his start Tuesday, but he'll be sent in for further tests as the team looks to confirm the extent of his injury. While a Grade 1 strain likely wouldn't end Arrieta's season, he may not be able to shake off the injury before his next turn in the rotation comes up Sunday against the Blue Jays.

Dealing with Grade 1 strain Arrieta said he sustained a Grade 1 hamstring strain during Tuesday's win over the Mets, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com reports.
Impact The 34-year-old doesn't believe it's a serious injury, but it's a tight time frame with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season. Arrieta missed 17 days after suffering a similar injury in 2017, and he would need an even faster recovery this time around to have even a slight chance of pitching again in the regular season. The veteran right-hander's status should be updated as he continues to be evaluated over the next couple days.

Exits start with injury Arrieta left Tuesday's start against the Mets with an apparent right hamstring injury, Meghan Montemurro of The Athletic reports.
Impact The veteran right-hander hit Andres Gimenez with a pitch during the sixth inning and immediately clutched at what appeared to be his right hamstring, and he walked off the field with a significant limp. The severity of the injury remains unclear, but it's potentially a major loss for the Phillies with Spencer Howard (shoulder) on the injured list and Zack Wheeler (finger) also banged up. Arrieta exited Tuesday's contest in line for the win after allowing one run on eight hits with four strikeouts and one walk over 5.1 innings.

Settles for no-decision Arrieta pitched 5.2 innings against the Marlins on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and four walks while striking out three. He did not factor in the decision.
Impact It was an uneven performance for the veteran starter, who threw only 60 of 106 pitches for strikes and tied a season high with four walks, though he nearly held on long enough to notch a quality start. Arrieta yielded single runs in the first, third and fourth frames but settled down to retire five of the final seven batters he faced. He departed with a chance to pick up the win before Philadelphia's bullpen collapsed in the late innings and allowed Miami to complete a comeback victory. Arrieta will carry a 5.54 ERA into his next scheduled start, which is likely to take place at home against the Mets on Tuesday.

Strong effort against Mets Arrieta (3-4) picked up the win in Friday's 5-3 victory over the Mets, allowing two runs on seven hits and a walk over seven innings. He struck out a season-high seven.
Impact The right-hander's only real mistake resulted in a two-run shot by Michael Conforto, but otherwise Arrieta was sharp while throwing 102 pitches (69 strikes). It was his second quality start of the season, but the poor outings have outnumbered the good ones this year for the 34-year-old. He'll carry a 5.67 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB through 33.1 innings into his next start Thursday in Miami.

Lit up versus Atlanta Arrieta (2-4) took the loss Sunday versus Atlanta, yielding seven runs on six hits and three walks over 1.1 innings. He failed to record a strikeout.
Impact Arrieta got through the first inning fine despite allowing a pair of baserunners, but he was touched up in the second before David Hale relieved him. The awful outing inflated Arrieta's ERA to 6.49 with a 1.56 WHIP and 18 strikeouts through 26.1 innings this season. The right-hander will try to get back on track next weekend against the Mets.
