Produces two hits Happ went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Pirates.

Plates two runs in win Rizzo went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a walk during Friday's 6-3 win over the Pirates.
Impact Rizzo smacked a two-RBI single in the bottom of the eighth inning, scoring Nico Hoerner and Ian Happ. The slugging first baseman has hit safely in five of Chicago's first seven games and, even though he is still searching for his first multi-hit game of the season, he has already racked up three homers and five RBI in only 20 at-bats.

Dominates Pirates Woodruff (1-1) struck out 10 batters over 6.1 scoreless innings in Wednesday's victory over the Pirates. He allowed just one hit and walked only one batter in the contest.
Impact Woodruff was absolutely dominant Wednesday, ceding only an infield single in the first inning and allowing just one batted ball to even reach the outfield. He served up a two-run homer to the Cubs' Ian Happ on Opening Day but has otherwise kept the opponent off the scoreboard over his first two starts of the season.

Chatwood dominates, Cubs hit 3 HRs in 9-1 romp over Brewers

Tyler Chatwood pitched three-hit ball over six innings, Willson Contreras homered and the Chicago Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers 9-1 to take two of three in their opening series

Homers again Sunday Happ went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Sunday's win over the Brewers.
Impact Happ has gotten off to a hot start, with two home runs and a 1.264 OPS through three games. Most importantly for his 2020 outlook, he started all three games, so he seems to be firmly ahead of Albert Almora in the center field pecking order. If Happ keeps producing at the plate, it looks like new manager David Ross will keep him in the lineup most days.
JULY 26, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Remains on the bench Almora is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Brewers.
Impact Ian Happ picks up his third straight start in center field to begin the season, so it would appear that Almora is truly a reserve option at this point. He offers good defense in center and should still get some playing time, but he may need Happ to slip up at the plate to become a fantasy factor in 2020.

Homers out of nine hole Happ went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run in Friday's 3-0 win over the Brewers.
Impact Happ homered in his first at-bat, just as he did back on Opening Day 2018. This time he was down in the No. 9 spot in the order behind Nico Hoerner, but it's encouraging that he was in the lineup in center field right away with Kyle Schwarber in left and Victor Caratini at DH.

Sitting on Opening Day Almora isn't in the Cubs' Opening Day lineup Friday against the Brewers.
Impact Ian Happ gets the nod in center field, with Kyle Schwarber in left and Victor Caratini serving as the designated hitter. Exactly how the playing time breaks down at those positions may take a few games to sort out.
JULY 24, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Option in center Chicago manager David Ross said Hoerner could be an option to play in center field this season if a need arises, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Impact Albert Almora, Ian Happ and Jason Heyward are the most likely candidates for playing time in center, but Ross acknowledged that the team will need "to be prepared for anything this season." Hoerner saw a little action in center with Double-A Tennessee last season, though he did primarily play in the infield both for the Smokies and the Cubs. He's expected to split second base duties with Jason Kipnis in Chicago this season.

Has looked impressive in camp Chicago manager David Ross said he's been impressed by Almora at the plate and on the bases during summer camp, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Impact Almora popped a home run against Jon Lester in an intrasquad game Friday and has stolen three bases during the team's summer scrimmages. "I think Albert had one of the best quarantines that you could have," Ross said. "Everybody comes in here a little bit differently after that long break. Almora did a phenomenal job of staying ready." The 26-year-old will probably split some time in center field with Ian Happ, but with National League teams now able to use a designated hitter, Happ could see some time there, allowing the superior defender Almora to get more time in the field.
JULY 19, 2020 • ROTOWIRE
Potential DH option Happ could see time at DH this year in addition to working in the outfield, Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
Impact Kyle Schwarber seems like the team's most logical candidate for the role, but first-year manager David Ross said he plans on rotating players through the position. Happ will likely be one of those players, giving the Cubs the ability to keep his powerful bat in the lineup while keeping Albert Almora's glove in center. Happ appeared in 58 games at the major-league level last season, slashing .264/.333/.564 and popping 11 home runs.
