Back from injured list Brown (shoulder) has been reinstated from the 60-day IL Tuesday.
Impact After completing four rehab assignments and building up to 78 pitches in one start, Brown is back with the big-league club for the first time since being placed on the injured list April 5. Prior to that, the 27-year-old had made just two starts, yet racked up 17 strikeouts. Impact The right-hander has fully recovered from a Grade 2 shoulder strain and is ready to rejoin the Astros after a four-start rehab assignment. Brown built up to five innings during his final rehab outing with Triple-A Sugar Land, and he'll likely have minor workload restrictions in his first couple starts back with Houston. The 27-year-old was dominant in his first two starts of the year prior to the injury, giving up just one run on five hits with a 17:6 K:BB across 10.2 innings.

Making another rehab start Brown (shoulder) will make his next start at Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact Manager Joe Espada said Friday that the Astros were debating whether to have Brown make another start in the minors, and they've officially decided to keep the right-hander in Triple-A for one more tune-up outing before activating him. Starting Wednesday would line him up to return from the 60-day IL on June 15 to face the Tigers at home.

Impact Brown made his third rehab start Thursday with Triple-A Sugar Land, when he tossed 57 pitches (38 strikes) and allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out four across 4.1 innings. Espada relayed that he felt good about Brown's latest rehab outing, and a decision around whether the 27-year-old right-hander will make his next start in the majors should be made within the next couple of days. Brown is nearly fully recovered from a Grade 2 right shoulder strain that was severe enough for him to be placed on the IL in early April.

He'll make his next rehab start in Triple-A and is aiming to be activated from the 60-day injured list in mid-June, per McTaggart. Eyeing mid-June return from IL Brown (shoulder) struck out five and gave up one hit and no walks over two scoreless innings Sunday in a rehab start for Double-A Corpus Christi.
Impact Brown opened his rehab assignment on a high note, spotting 21 of his 35 pitches for strikes while generating seven whiffs. The Houston ace is eligible to return from the injured list June 1, but general manager Dana Brown said earlier Sunday that the Astros are targeting the middle of next month for his activation, per Brian McTaggart of MLB.com. The Astros are planning for Brown to build up to around 75 pitches prior to adding him back to the rotation, so he'll likely need at least two more starts in the minors to get ramped back up.

Beginning rehab assignment Sunday Brown (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Corpus Christi on Sunday, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
Impact Brown threw live batting practice earlier this week and is ready to work in game action, as he works his way back from a shoulder strain. The right-hander isn't eligible to return from the 60-day injured list until the end of this month, so he's likely to make at least a pair of rehab starts to build his arm back up before rejoining the Houston rotation. Brown last pitched March 31 against the Red Sox. He posted a 0.84 ERA and 17:6 K:BB across 10.2 inning in his first two starts of the season before being shut down.
