Rangers take on the Astros in first of 3-game series
The Texas Rangers open a three-game series at home against the Houston Astros on Friday

Peppered for seven runs
Brown took a no-decision Saturday against the Rays, allowing seven runs on six hits and four walks in four innings. He struck out three.
Impact
The Tampa Bay bats took it to Brown on Saturday early and often, tagging the hurler for at least one run in each of the first four innings. It was perhaps the worst outing of 2026 for the 27-year-old right-hander, who posted season highs in both runs and hits allowed while fanning a season-low three. Brown will try to get back on track his next time out in Texas, where he'll take a 3.68 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 35:17 K:BB over 29.1 innings.

Fans four in quality start
Brown took a no-decision Sunday against the Tigers, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and two walks in six innings. He struck out four.
Impact
A fielding error by Raynel Delgado in the fifth inning allowed an unearned run to come across for Detroit, but Brown still logged his second quality start of the year. The 27-year-old right-hander put forth his longest outing since coming off the injured list due to a shoulder strain in mid-June, also throwing a season-high 103 pitches Sunday. Brown has given up multiple runs just one time this year, holding a 1.78 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 32:13 K:BB across his first 25.1 innings.

Lasts three innings vs. Blue Jays
Brown did not factor into the decision Monday against the Blue Jays, allowing one run on four hits and two walks while striking out four over three innings.
Impact
The right-hander threw 54 of his 85 pitches for strikes but struggled to consistently find the zone, issuing two walks and plunking two batters. His lone run allowed came via Kazuma Okamoto, who led off the second inning with a solo homer. Despite lasting only three innings, Brown did not appear to be working under any workload limitations, as his pitch count suggests Houston is willing to let him work through trouble. Through two starts since returning, he has allowed just two runs across 8.2 innings while posting an 11:5 K:BB. Brown is scheduled to make his next start on the road against Detroit.

Excellent in return
Brown completed 5.2 innings against Detroit on Tuesday, giving up one run on three hits and three walks while striking out seven batters in a no-decision.
Impact
Brown logged his first MLB game action since March 31 after recovering from a shoulder injury. The right-hander didn't seem to have much rust, logging 12 whiffs and seven punchouts while tossing 92 pitches over 5.2 frames. Brown didn't give up any extra-base hits, and the lone run he allowed came on a walk, two productive outs and a single in the second inning. Fantasy managers who roster Brown should be plenty happy about the hurler's return outing, especially given his near-full workload. Brown should be good to go with minimal restrictions moving forward, and he's projected to make his next appearance on the road versus Toronto.

Back from injured list
Brown (shoulder) has been reinstated from the 60-day IL Tuesday.
Impact
After completing four rehab assignments and building up to 78 pitches in one start, Brown is back with the big-league club for the first time since being placed on the injured list April 5. Prior to that, the 27-year-old had made just two starts, yet racked up 17 strikeouts. Houston will get a much-needed addition and boost to their starting rotation which has been killed by injuries all season long. Collin Price was optioned to Triple-A in order to make room for Brown on the active roster.

Rejoining rotation Tuesday
Brown (shoulder) will be reinstated from the 60-day injured list to start Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The right-hander has fully recovered from a Grade 2 shoulder strain and is ready to rejoin the Astros after a four-start rehab assignment. Brown built up to five innings during his final rehab outing with Triple-A Sugar Land, and he'll likely have minor workload restrictions in his first couple starts back with Houston. The 27-year-old was dominant in his first two starts of the year prior to the injury, giving up just one run on five hits with a 17:6 K:BB across 10.2 innings.
