Picks up first save Thursday
Harris earned his first save in Thursday's 1-0 win over the Yankees, striking out one in a hitless and scoreless ninth inning.
Impact
With a trio of lefties in Cody Bellinger, Jazz Chisholm and Ben Rice due up in the ninth for New York, Athletics manager Mark Kotsay went to lefty Harris for the save chance. He got Bellinger to foul out, Chisholm to fly out and Rice to strike out in a perfect ninth inning. Harris now owns a 3.00 ERA and 8:10 K:BB across eight innings and eight appearances this season.

Could be early favorite for saves
Harris could lead the Athletics' closer committee early in the season, Jason Burke of SI.com reports.
Impact
Manager Mark Kotsay utilized a committee approach after the A's traded away Mason Miller last season, with Harris leading the way with four of the club's final 15 saves, and the skipper is expected to have a similar strategy this season. The left-handed Harris had a 3.20 ERA last season, but his 1.35 WHIP and 23.5 percent strikeout rate don't offer major upside, especially if the save chances are inconsistent.

Tallies fourth save
Harris recorded the save Thursday against the Red Sox, allowing one run on one hit and no walks in two innings. He struck out three.
Impact
Harris posted his fourth save of the season, and each have come following the trade of Mason Miller. The left-hander should remain one of the Athletics' preferred late-inning options alongside Sean Newcomb to finish up the year, but the former doesn't appear to be locked in as the club's closer. Through 60 innings, Harris has a shaky 3.30 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 61:33 K:BB.

Impact
Harris entered with a man on first and two outs in the eighth to face lefty Jarren Duran and was able to get out of the inning by picking off Nick Sogard. Hogan would allow a base knock in the ninth but closed out the game by inducing a double play. Dating back to Aug. 9, Harris has allowed just one run over 16.2 innings and has picked up three saves and two holds. The Athletics' closer job still remains a committee, however, between Harris, Sean Newcomb and even Michael Kelly, who just picked up his first career save Sunday.

Scoreless streak continues
Harris allowed a hit and no walks with no strikeouts over a scoreless inning in Saturday's 9-3 loss against the Rangers.
Impact
While the Athletics' pitching staff struggled in Saturday's loss, Harris turned in a clean outing when called upon in the fifth inning. The left-hander has pieced together a scoreless August, tossing 10 innings across eight outings, a sharp improvement from the 4.35 ERA and 1.65 WHIP he carried over 41.1 innings in 30 big-league appearances through July.

Picks up extra-inning save
Harris walked one but didn't allow a hit or a run over two-thirds of an inning to earn the save in Saturday's 2-1 extra-inning win over the Mariners.
Impact
Harris' walk loaded the bases with two outs, but he got Randy Arozarena to ground out, ending the threat and preserving the Athletics' lead. This was Harris' second save of the week, and he's on an eight-inning scoreless streak since he was recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on Aug. 9. On the year, he's had mixed results with a 3.65 ERA, 1.48 WHIP and 52:27 K:BB over 49.1 innings across 36 relief appearances. He's added two saves and a hold, but it's unclear if he's in serious contention for high-leverage work to finish 2025.

Earns first save
Harris earned a save with a perfect inning against Minnesota on Tuesday.
Impact
Harris retired the Twins' 6-7-8 hitters in order to close out the 6-3 win after Justin Sterner threw two scoreless frames out of the bullpen. It was Harris' first save chance of the year, and he's now thrown 6.2 shutout innings since rejoining the MLB roster Aug. 9. He joined Sean Newcomb as the only Athletics to record saves since Mason Miller was dealt to San Diego. It seems most likely that the team will continue using a committee approach for late-inning opportunities.

Back in majors
The Athletics recalled Harris from Triple-A Las Vegas on Saturday.
Impact
With Luis Severino (oblique) headed for the IL, Harris will return to the big club to provide the team with extra bullpen depth while the A's work out who will take the open rotation spot. The 28-year-old southpaw owns a 4.35 ERA through 41.1 innings in the majors this season and will likely be limited to middle-relief duties.
