Joins Bucs bullpen Hembree signed a one-year contract with the Pirates on Tuesday. Impact Hembree will move on to his fifth team in three years, after he split the 2020 campaign with the Red Sox and Phillies and the 2021 campaign with the Reds and Mets. Before he was waived by Cincinnati last August and then claimed by the Mets, Hembree enjoyed a brief run as the Reds' closer, converting nine of 11 save chances. He ultimately finished the season with an ugly 5.59 ERA, but a 4.31 FIP, 1.19 WHIP and 24.3 K-BB% all point to him pitching better than the ERA indicated. While joining a Pittsburgh bullpen that's light on impact arms, Hembree should have a good chance at seizing a late-inning role, though he may be behind David Bednar and Chris Stratton when it comes to getting save chances.
