INJURIES

Swats 10th homer Kim went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 5-0 win against St. Louis.
Impact Kim produced the only long ball in the contest, going deep to left field in the fourth inning. It was his second homer in his past four games and his 10th of the season. Kim recently underwent an 0-for-18 slump at the plate but has bounced back by going 6-for-18 over his subsequent five contests.

Fills stat sheet Friday Kim went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Friday's 12-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Kim did a little bit of everything in this contest, putting together productive at-bats from the No. 5 spot. This was his first multi-hit game since Sept. 2 -- in the 11 games in between, he went a paltry 4-for-38 (.105). The shortstop still isn't at risk of losing much playing time, and he's had an altogether solid year with nine homers, 10 steals, 52 RBI, 52 runs scored and a .251/.324/.379 slash line through 134 contests.

Swipes bag Sunday Kim went 1-for-3 with a stolen base in Sunday's 2-1 win over the Nationals.
Impact Kim has cooled off a bit since his three-hit, four-RBI game Wednesday. Across his last four contests, he's gone 2-for-13 with a pair of walks, though he was able to add a steal Sunday, which was his second in August and his ninth of the year. The shortstop is slashing .252/.329/.375 with six home runs, 44 RBI and 44 runs scored through 113 contests.

Drives in four runs Wednesday Kim went 3-for-4 with two doubles, a walk, a run and four RBI in a 10-3 victory against Miami on Wednesday.
Impact The Padres scored five runs in the first inning, with the fifth among that tally coming on a Kim double that scored Trent Grisham. Kim also produced the final three runs of the contest with a bases-clearing double in the ninth. The shortstop has three multi-hit performances over his past five contests to push his season batting average to .255. He's slashing .310/.344/.483 with eight doubles and nine RBI through 16 games in August.

Held out for first time this month Kim is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Kim is riding a six-game hitting streak and has doubled in five straight appearances, but he also started the last 21 games, so manager Bob Melvin decided it was time for a day off. Jake Cronenworth will man the shortstop position Sunday for the Padres.
AUGUST 14, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Likely to keep everyday role Kim is expected to continue as the Padres' everyday shortstop with Fernando Tatis suspended into next season, Alden Gonzalez of ESPN.com reports.
Impact There were questions about how Tatis' imminent return would impact Kim's playing time, but with the former handed an 80-game ban Friday for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance, those questions are now moot. Though the loss of Tatis for this campaign and beyond is massively disappointing for the Padres, there is at least some consolation in the fact that Kim has been a defensive standout this season and has shown improvement at the plate. Since July 1, Kim is slashing .301/.344/.442 with two home runs, 15 RBI, 13 runs and four stolen bases over 35 games.

Swipes bag in loss Kim went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base in a loss to the Twins on Saturday.
Impact Kim followed his big game Friday with a more modest performance Saturday, though fantasy managers who roster the infielder will largely be satisfied with the stolen base. The 26-year-old has swiped a bag in each of his past two games and is up to seven thefts on the campaign, one more than he logged in 117 contests last season. Kim has shown improvement this year with a .244/.329/.365 slash line, six homers and 35 RBI, though he'll likely lose playing time when Fernando Tatis (wrist) finally makes his return to the team.

Fills stat sheet Friday Kim went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, a walk, a stolen base and two total runs scored in Friday's 10-1 win over the Twins.
Impact Kim went yard in the second inning, snapping a 17-game homer drought. The shortstop also singled, stole second and scored in the fifth. This was just his second multi-hit performance since the All-Star break. For the season, he's slashing .243/.327/.365 with six homers, 35 RBI, 38 runs scored and six stolen bases in 91 contests.

Impact Kim was initially slated to be out of the lineup for a third consecutive game, but he'll start at shortstop and bat ninth after CJ Abrams (undisclosed) was scratched. Over his last seven games, Kim has hit .333 with three doubles, four RBI, two runs and a stolen base.

Sitting Friday Kim is not in the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Mets.
Impact Kim will remain on the bench for the second game in a row Friday after also getting a breather Sunday versus the Diamondbacks prior to the All-Star break. CJ Abrams will draw another start at shortstop and bat ninth against New York.

Heads to bench Sunday Kim is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks
Impact CJ Abrams will fill in at shortstop for Kim, who gets a breather for the Padres' final game before the All-Star break after recording at least one hit while starting in each of the past five contests. Kim should continue to serve as San Diego's primary option at shortstop until Fernando Tatis (wrist) is deemed ready to return from the 60-day injured list for his 2022 debut.
JULY 17, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Registers fifth steal Kim went 1-for-4 with a stolen base in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Kim has hit safely in five straight games since he returned from a thumb injury. In that span, he's gone 7-for-20 (.350) with three doubles, four RBI, two runs scored and a steal. The shortstop owns a .243/.330/.364 slash line with five home runs, five steals, 31 RBI, 35 runs scored, 15 doubles and two triples in 83 contests overall. Kim's starting role at shortstop will likely be safe to begin the second half of the campaign, but he could see reduced playing time once Fernando Tatis (wrist) is ready to make his season debut.
JULY 17, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Two doubles in return Kim (thumb) went 2-for-4 with two doubles, a walk and an RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Rockies.
Impact Kim missed the last two games with a nagging thumb injury. He was the only Padre to record any extra-base hits in this contest, including his RBI double to open the scoring in the second inning. The shortstop has posted multiple hits in four of his nine games in July, going 9-for-24 (.375). He's slashing .239/.330/.364 with five home runs, 28 RBI, 33 runs scored, four stolen bases and 14 doubles through 79 contests overall.
JULY 13, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Good to go Tuesday Kim (thumb) is starting at shortstop and batting leadoff Tuesday at Colorado, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Kim has been held out the past few games by a thumb issue, but he'll rejoin the lineup Tuesday and start things off as the leadoff man. He has a .350/.435/.500 slash line with one home run, two RBI and four runs through eight games in July.
JULY 12, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Remains out of lineup Kim (thumb) isn't starting Monday against the Rockies, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Kim will take a seat for the series finale after he aggravated a thumb injury during Saturday's 3-1 loss. CJ Abrams will step in at shortstop in place of Kim, who can be viewed as day-to-day heading into Monday's series opener at Colorado.
JULY 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Aggravates thumb injury Kim left Saturday's 3-1 loss to the Giants following his third at-bat after aggravating his thumb injury, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Impact Kim was held out of the starting lineup twice earlier this week because of that injury. Kim was 0-for-2 with a walk in the loss, including hitting into a double play with the bases loaded in the second inning that ended the Padres' best threat against Carlos Rodon.
