Looking good during rehab stint Marquez (forearm) tossed four scoreless innings for Triple-A El Paso on Sunday, allowing one hit and issuing one walk while striking out two batters.
Impact Sunday marked Marquez's second rehab appearance after landing on the injured list May 3 due to right forearm nerve irritation. The veteran righty has tossed 6.1 scoreless frames and has allowed just two hits while posting a 5:1 K:BB across the pair of minor-league outings. Marquez progressed to throwing 47 pitches Sunday after tossing 36 in his initial appearance with El Paso, and he promisingly sat at 95.4 mph with his fastball Sunday, per Clark Fahrenthold of MadFriars, after averaging 94.2 mph on the pitch before getting hurt. Marquez seems likely to need another rehab outing or two, but he could be back with San Diego by the end of June.
JUNE 8 • ROTOWIRE
Making rehab start Tuesday Marquez (forearm) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday.
Impact Marquez has been shelved for the past month after going down with right forearm nerve irritation, but the veteran right-hander resumed throwing in mid-May and has been cleared to pitch in a rehab setting after facing hitters last week. It's not clear how many rehab starts the Padres will ask Marquez to make. He held a 5.76 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 19:12 K:BB across 29.2 innings before getting hurt.
JUNE 2 • ROTOWIRE
Rehab stint looming Marquez (forearm) threw live batting practice Thursday, and his next step will be a minor-league rehab appearance, per MLB.com.
Impact Marquez last saw game action May 1, when he allowed seven runs over five innings in a loss against the White Sox. The veteran hurler landed on the injured list two days later due to right forearm nerve irritation, but he was able to resume a throwing program in mid-May. It appears Marquez is now just about ready to take part in a rehab stint, though it's unclear how many appearances he'll need before he's ready to be activated.
MAY 31 • ROTOWIRE
Resumes mound work Marquez (forearm) has progressed to throwing off a mound, per MLB.com.
Impact Marquez landed on the 15-day injured list May 3 due to right forearm nerve irritation. He resumed throwing in mid-May and has since been able to return to mound work. If he continues to progress without any setbacks, Marquez could be back with San Diego sometime in June, though he'll likely need a minor-league rehab stint first.
MAY 22 • ROTOWIRE
Resumes throwing Marquez (forearm) has begun a throwing program, per MLB.com.
Impact Marquez has been on the shelf since getting roughed up in a start versus the White Sox on May 1. He was subsequently diagnosed with right forearm nerve irritation and landed on the 15-day IL. Marquez's ability to begin throwing suggests that he's showing improvement, though he's not expected to return to the Padres until at least June.
MAY 18 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to resume throwing soon Marquez (forearm) is scheduled to begin a throwing program in mid-May, per MLB.com.
Impact Marquez landed on the injured list May 3 following a rough outing two days earlier. If all goes to plan, he'll have had about two weeks of rest before he begins a throwing program. Marquez will likely need considerable time to build back up, so he probably won't be ready to be activated until at least early June.
MAY 15 • ROTOWIRE
Lands on injured list The Padres placed Marquez on the 15-day injured list Sunday, retroactive to May 2, due to right forearm nerve irritation.
Impact Marquez surrendered seven runs over five innings Friday against the White Sox and will now spend at least the next couple weeks on the IL. Griffin Canning (Achilles) as reinstated from the IL to make his season debut Sunday in the series finale versus Chicago.

MAY 2 • SI.COM
Hit hard in loss Marquez (3-2) allowed seven runs on five hits and five walks while striking out two over five innings to take the loss versus the White Sox on Friday.
Impact Marquez got lit up in the second inning, as the White Sox tagged him for six runs in the frame, including a three-run home run by Munetaka Murakami. Colson Montgomery added a solo shot in the fifth to make this the third time Marquez has allowed multiple homers in a start. Interestingly, all of those multi-homer outings have come at spacious Petco Park. Marquez is at a 5.76 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 19:12 K:BB across 29.2 innings through six starts this season. His next outing is tentatively projected to be on the road in San Francisco.
MAY 2 • ROTOWIRE
Overcomes tough frame for win Marquez (3-1) earned the win against the Diamondbacks on Saturday, allowing four runs on six hits and one walk with two strikeouts over six innings.
Impact Marquez surrendered four runs in the second inning but rebounded with four scoreless frames to finish strong. Through five starts, the 31-year-old has alternated between three four-run outings and two scoreless efforts. Overall, he owns a 4.38 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 17:7 K:BB across 24.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup against the White Sox next weekend.

Padres break through late as Laureano and Tatis lift San Diego past Angels 4-1

Germán Márquez threw 5 2/3 scoreless innings, Ramón Laureano and Fernando Tatis Jr. each drove in two runs apiece and the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Angels 4-1

Settles for no-decision Saturday Marquez took a no-decision Saturday against the Angels, allowing no runs on two hits and two walks in 5.2 innings. He struck out eight.
Impact The veteran right-hander put together his longest outing of the year in what was also arguably his finest effort of 2026 so far. He surrendered a season-low two hits, also matching a season high in punchouts. Marquez has worked his way back into fantasy relevance following a couple of tough recent seasons in Colorado, posting a respectable 3.86 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 15:6 K:BB over 18.2 innings for the Padres this year. His next start tentatively projects to come versus Arizona.

Nabs win against former club Marquez (2-1) earned the win over Colorado on Saturday, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings.
Impact Marquez was far from sharp, especially in terms of allowing the long ball -- the Rockies knocked three homers against him. However, he pitched just well enough (and just deep enough) to pick up his second straight victory thanks to a breakout performance by San Diego's offense. Marquez tossed five scoreless frames in his previous start April 6 versus Pittsburgh, but in his other two outings he's allowed a combined eight runs (most of which have come via five homers) across eight innings. He's projected to next take the mound on the road against the Angels.

Works his way out of trouble in win Marquez (1-1) earned the win Monday against the Pirates, allowing no runs on six hits and one walk while striking out four over five innings.
Impact Marquez navigated traffic throughout the outing, escaping jams in multiple innings to keep Pittsburgh off the board. The righty stranded runners at the corners in both the second and third innings, highlighted by a key strikeout of Ryan O'Hearn on his fastest pitch of the day at 95 mph. It was a much sharper outing compared to his season debut, where Marquez allowed four runs over three innings against San Francisco. The win snapped a 12-start stretch without a victory (0-9), marking the 31-year-old's first win since June 18. Marquez will look to ride this momentum into his next start, scheduled against a Rockies lineup that has had trouble scoring runs so far in 2026.

Knocked around in Padres debut Marquez (0-1) took the loss against San Francisco on Tuesday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out one batter over three innings.
Impact Marquez finished spring with a pair of promising outings, but he couldn't carry over any momentum into his first start of the regular season. The veteran right-hander gave up three runs in the first inning and another in the third, and he needed 65 pitches to get through three frames. Marquez gave up a whopping eight hits (including two homers and a double) during his short time on the mound, and his final line could have been even worse had he not escaped a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the second frame. Marquez is filling a spot at the end of San Diego's rotation for the time being, but he'll likely need to pitch much better to keep a starting role once Joe Musgrove (elbow) and Griffin Canning (Achilles) are ready to return to action.
