Season-high six Ks in quality start Marquez didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Cubs after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk in six innings. He struck out six.
Impact It was Marquez's first quality start on the road since his first outing of the season, and he also established a season high in punchouts. Tuesday also marked the veteran right-hander's third time throwing at least six innings while giving up two runs or fewer in his last four appearances, during which he has a respectable 3.52 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB over 23 frames. Marquez is also set to work away from hitter-friendly Coors Field in his next scheduled start, which lines up for next week against the Marlins.

Solid despite loss Marquez (1-7) took the loss Thursday against the Phillies, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out five.
Impact While Colorado failed to provide Marquez with any run support in an eventual shutout loss, it was an encouraging performance from the right-hander, who's now held opponents to just one earned run over seven innings in two of his last three starts. Still, the 30-year-old Marquez remains a risky commodity for fantasy purposes -- his ERA still sits at an ugly 7.66 with a 1.68 WHIP and 26:18 K:BB across 10 starts (47 innings). Marquez currently lines up for a tough road matchup with the Cubs in his next outing.

Tagged for seven runs Saturday Marquez allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out one batter over three innings in a no-decision against Arizona on Saturday.
Impact Marquez looked like he could be turning a rough season around when he earned a win by allowing one run over seven frames in his previous start, but the veteran hurler struggled mightily again Saturday. After Colorado staked him to a 3-0 lead through half an inning, Marquez squandered the advantage by allowing three runs in the bottom of the frame, though the final tally was unearned. The right-hander yielded three more run in the second and an unearned run in the third before his outing came to a merciful end. Marquez has now allowed at least five earned runs in six of his past seven starts, pushing his season ERA to an ugly 8.78 mark. The Rockies aren't exactly loaded with pitching depth, so Marquez figures to keep going out to the mound with the hope of getting on track. His next start lines up to be a tough matchup against the Phillies.

Picks up first win in 2025 Marquez (1-6) got the win Sunday over the Padres, allowing one run on three hits and a walk while striking out two in seven innings.
Impact The Padres had two of their three hits and strung together their only run against Marquez in the opening frame. Following a two-out single by Gavin Sheets in the first, Marquez went on to retire 17 batters in a row before Sheets knocked another single off him in the seventh. Sunday was Marquez's first time reaching seven innings since Sept. 16 of 2022. He had a 9.90 ERA coming into Sunday's start and has lowered that to 8.27. He'll aim to pick up another win when he faces Arizona on the road this weekend.

Padres hit five homers, finish with 24 hits in 21-0 rout of Rockies
Falls to 0-6 Marquez (0-6) yielded five runs on six hits over 4.1 innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Giants.
Impact Marquez's struggles continued Sunday as he took his sixth consecutive loss and allowed at least five runs for the fifth straight outing. He gave up a pair of solo homers to Willy Adames but most of the damage came during San Francisco's three-run fifth inning. Marquez owns a hideous 9.90 ERA with an 18:12 K:BB through 30 innings this season. Since throwing six shutout frames in his season debut, he's coughed up 33 earned runs over 24 innings (12.38 ERA). Marquez will continue his quest for his first win in his next outing, which is lined up to be at home against the Padres next weekend.

Miserable stretch continues in loss Marquez (0-5) took the loss Tuesday against Atlanta after allowing seven runs on 11 hits and one walk in 5.1 innings. He struck out one.
Impact It's been a miserable stretch for Marquez, who has given up a whopping 25 runs over his last four starts. He got just five whiffs over his 86 pitches Tuesday, and his 11 hits allowed established a season worst. The veteran right-hander's expiring contract makes him a logical trade candidate later this summer, and he's struggled mightily in his 10th season in Colorado. Marquez will take a 9.82 ERA, 2.06 WHIP and 15:12 K:BB over 25.2 innings into a tough matchup against the Giants, currently projected for this weekend in San Francisco.

Another rough outing Marquez (0-4) took the loss Thursday in the first game of a doubleheader with the Royals, allowing six runs on eight hits and three walks over four innings. He struck out three.
Impact It was another tough day for Marquez, who's now allowed 18 earned runs over just 9.1 innings in his last three outings. The 30-year-old right-hander sports an ugly 9.30 ERA with a 2.02 WHIP and 14:11 K:BB through his first five starts (20.1 innings) this season. Marquez will look to right the ship in his next outing, currently lined up for next week at home against Atlanta.

Wednesday's start rained out Marquez and the Rockies won't face the Royals on Wednesday, as the game was postponed due to rain.
Impact The two teams will play two games Thursday to make up for Wednesday's contest, and Marquez will presumably toe the slab in one of them. The 30-year-old will be looking to shake off a disastrous outing during his last start against the Dodgers, which saw him surrender seven runs in just two-thirds of an inning.
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Can't escape first frame in loss Marquez (0-3) took the loss against the Dodgers on Wednesday, allowing seven runs on six hits and one walk while striking out one batter over two-thirds of an inning.
Impact The night got off to an ominous start for Marquez when Shohei Ohtani obliterated his fourth pitch of the game, sending it 448 feet to right field for a solo home run. Things didn't get any better for Marquez from there -- he gave up another solo shot to Freddie Freeman two batters later, and he allowed six straight batters to reach base with two outs before mercifully being pulled. The veteran hurler saw his season ERA balloon from 4.60 to 8.27 due to the disastrous outing, and he's now lost three of his first four starts this season. Marquez will attempt to rebound in his next start, which is tentatively slated to take place in Kansas City next week.

Collapses in fifth inning in loss Marquez (0-2) took the loss Friday against the Padres after allowing six runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk in 4.2 innings. He struck out three.
Impact The veteran right-hander retired 12 of the first 14 batters he faced Friday, and his three punchouts all came in the second inning by fanning the side, but it all came apart during a six-run Padres barrage in the fifth inning. Through three starts, Marquez holds a 4.60 ERA, 1.47 WHIP and 10:7 K:BB over 15.2 innings. Marquez won't be a recommended fantasy option on the road against the Dodgers in his next scheduled start, which is set for the middle of the next week.
