Swinging but not running
Springer (quadriceps) has been able to swing but isn't expected to start running until Thursday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact
Springer has appeared in just four games this season, as he missed most of April with a strained quadriceps and aggravated the injured soon after returning to action. He'll be eligible to return from his second stint on the injured list Thursday, though he's not expected to be ready to return just yet. Exactly when he'll be back remains to be seen.

Returns to injured list
Springer was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right quadriceps strain, retroactive to May 3, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact
The 31-year-old served as the designated hitter in four games since being activated from the injured list last week, but he's back on the shelf since he aggravated the quad injury. Springer will be eligible to return from the injured list next week, but the Blue Jays figure to remain even more cautious to avoid rushing him back the second time around, so he figures to be sidelined beyond the minimum 10 days. Jonathan Davis was recalled in a corresponding move and will provide outfield depth for Toronto.

Still sitting Wednesday
Springer (quadriceps) is not in the lineup Wednesday against the Athletics, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
Impact
The 31-year-old will be out of the lineup for the third consecutive contest since leaving Sunday's game with leg fatigue. Springer did some pregame running Tuesday, but manager Charlie Montoyo said the session went "not great, not bad" following the contest. According to Rob Longley of the Toronto Sun, the outfielder underwent an MRI on Wednesday, and his status should receive more clarity once the results are announced.

Remains day-to-day

Impact
The 31-year-old exited Sunday's contest with leg fatigue and has been held out of the lineup the past two days, and Montoyo's comments don't paint a particularly optimistic picture for his potential availability Wednesday. It doesn't sound as though Springer has suffered a setback, but he's still battling some issues since returning from the injured list last week.
