Could start rehab Tuesday
Springer (quadriceps) could begin a rehab assignment as soon as Tuesday, Mitch Bannon of SI.com reports.
Impact
Quadriceps issues have limited Springer to just four games this season. While he's seemingly trending in the right direction, the Blue Jays will want to be very careful with him given their $150 million investment in him over the winter and the fact that he had to head right back to the injured list within a week of being activated in late April.

Nearing rehab assignment
General manager Ross Atkins said Sunday that Springer (quad) is "very close" to beginning a rehab assignment, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact
Atkins didn't give a specific date for when the star outfielder could begin the rehab assignment, but based on his comments, it wouldn't be surprising for Springer to play in a minor-league game within the next week. The quad issue has been a problem for Springer all season, with the recently signed free agent returning for just four games in late April before heading back to the injured list. He'll continue to target a mid-June return to the Blue Jays' lineup.

Making encouraging progress
Springer (quadriceps) ran sprints and did some other on-field baseball activities before Saturday's game, Scott Mitchell of TSN.ca reports.
Impact
According to manager Charlie Montoyo, Saturday was "his best day yet". That being said, the team has not detailed when Springer will begin a minor-league rehab assignment. His debut season with the Blue Jays has been derailed by injuries to this point, but once healthy he should slot in as the starting center fielder and a reliable power bat.

Runs bases Tuesday
Springer (quadriceps) ran the bases and took flyballs in the outfield Tuesday, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports.
Impact
Manager Charlie Montoyo said that Springer looked good while participating in activities Tuesday. However, Montoyo also said that the 31-year-old will have to do similar activities Wednesday before the Blue Jays determine his progress. Springer suffered a setback with his right quad in early May and has been brought along slowly since then, but he could be nearing a rehab assignment if he continues to make progress in the coming days.
