Back in win column Tuesday
Kirby (6-7 picked up the win Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on eight hits and two walks over six innings in a 3-2 victory over the Pirates. He struck out five.
Impact
The right-hander produced his ninth quality start of the season on 91 pitches (65 strikes), but it took a Cole Young two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning to finally get Kirby back in the win column. He'd gone 0-5 over his prior six starts, stumbling to a 6.27 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 33:7 K:BB in 33 innings during the losing streak. With that monkey off his back, Kirby will look to build on Tuesday's performance in his next outing, which is set to come on the road this weekend in Cleveland.

Takes loss in quality start
Kirby (5-7) allowed three runs on eight hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings to take the loss versus the Orioles on Wednesday.
Impact
Kirby gave up just two extra-base hits, but they were critical. Gunnar Henderson tagged him for a two-run home run in the third inning and Leodys Taveras added an RBI triple in the sixth. This was Kirby's second quality start in a row, but hes' allowed at least three runs in six straight outings, going 0-5 in that span. He's now at a 4.10 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 79:21 K:BB through 90 innings over 15 starts. Kirby will look to shake off the funk in his next start, which is tentatively projected to be on the road in Pittsburgh.

Strikes out 10 in loss
Kirby (5-6) took the loss Wednesday against the Orioles, allowing three runs on seven hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out 10.
Impact
Kirby was impressive early Wednesday, blanking the Orioles for five innings while setting a season high with 10 strikeouts. However, things came apart in the sixth, as Kirby gave up three runs on three extra-base hits, which proved enough to leave the right-hander with his fourth loss in his last five starts. Still, it was a step in the right direction overall for Kirby, who'd struggled to a 7.29 ERA in his previous four outings. His ERA now sits at 4.07 with a 1.31 WHIP and 74:21 K:BB across 14 starts (84 innings). Kirby's currently scheduled for a rematch with the Orioles at home in his next outing.

Takes fifth loss
Kirby (5-5) took the loss Wednesday against the Mets, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits and a walk across four innings. He struck out five.
Impact
Kirby was decent early, holding New York to one run through his first three frames, but he'd fade in the fourth, where he'd allow four runs on four hits. The loss is Kirby's third in his last four starts -- he's struggled to a 7.29 ERA across 21 innings in that span. Overall, his ERA sits at 4.04 on the year with a 1.28 WHIP and 64:18 K:BB through 13 starts (78 innings). Kirby will look to get back on track in his next outing, tentatively scheduled to come next week in Baltimore.

He's now allowed 15 runs (13 earned) across 17 innings over his last three starts after a stretch of six outings in which he allowed two runs or fewer. Overall, Kirby has a 3.77 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 59:17 K:BB through 74 innings over 12 starts this season. He'll look to right the ship in a home start versus the Mets next week.

Rebounds in fourth loss
Kirby (5-4) took the loss Saturday against the Royals, allowing five runs (three earned) on nine hits and no walks in six innings. He struck out three.
Impact
After giving up a season-worst six runs in his last start against the Padres, Kirby put together a solid bounce-back effort on the road Saturday. The Royals jumped on the right-hander for three runs in the first inning, but a throwing error by Cole Young kept a pair of earned runs off Kirby's ledger in what was the hurler's sixth quality start this year. Kirby will bring a steady 3.54 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 55:16 K:BB across 68.2 innings into his next scheduled outing against Arizona.

Tagged for six runs in loss
Kirby (5-3) took the loss Sunday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks over 5.2 innings against San Diego. He struck out six.
Impact
Kirby was uncharacteristically knocked around Sunday, surrendering a pair of homers to Gavin Sheets as part of a season-worst six-run outing. The 28-year-old hurler entered the day with a 2.84 ERA that has since risen to 3.45 to pair with a 1.18 WHIP and 52:16 K:BB across 62.2 innings (10 starts). He'll look to bounce back next time out, which is tentatively scheduled for Saturday against Kansas City.
