Tough-luck loser Phillips (1-1) took the loss in Friday's 3-2 defeat at the hands of the Giants, allowing an unearned run on two walks with two strikeouts in one inning.

Impact Phillips was the final of 11 Los Angeles pitchers in Friday's extra-innings game, recording the last out of the 10th to send the game another inning. He walked two batters in the 11th and appeared to escape a bases-loaded, one-out jam, but second baseman Trea Turner botched a routine throw that resulted in Phillips' earning the loss. This was only Phillips' second appearance with the team due to an IL stint and he appears to be a backend bullpen guy judging by his use as the final pitcher in a long game Friday.

Lands on injured list Phillips was placed on the 10-day injured list with a right quadriceps strain Friday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Impact Phillips made his Dodgers debut Thursday and allowed a run on three hits and no walks while striking out one in 2.1 innings to earn the win over the Mets. However, he apparently suffered a quad injury that will prompt a trip to the injured list. It's not yet clear when the right-hander will be able to return.

Impact Following opener Corey Knebel, Phillips got through two clean innings but permitted a run with one out in fourth before being removed with 2-1 lead. Los Angeles maintained that lead for the rest of the game, giving the 26-year-old his second career victory in 40 games across four seasons. He remains a nonfactor unless he's able to take on a larger role.
