Impact Perez made his second consecutive start without allowing a run, moving to 10 straight scoreless innings. Though the 20-year-old has had some struggles with command in the bigs (4.1 BB/9), he has struck out 24 batters in 24 innings of work thus far to go along with a 2.25 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Perez is tentatively expected to face the White Sox and Mariners in his next two starts and should remain firmly in the fantasy conversation.

Impact Perez's four walks were a blemish, but he kept runs off the board for the first time in his four career starts. There's still room for growth with his command at the big-league level -- he has issued 10 walks in 19 innings so far, though he's also racked up 19 strikeouts. The 20-year-old also has decent ratios with a 2.84 ERA and 1.21 WHIP, so he's a safe distance away from looking overmatched. He's projected for a favorable home start versus Oakland his next time out.

Struggles in Colorado Perez (1-1) took the loss Tuesday versus the Rockies, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Impact A stop at Coors Field was always going to be a test for the rookie, and he held his own until things got out of hand in the fifth inning. The silver lining from Tuesday is that this was the first time in three starts he hasn't allowed a home run. Perez has a 3.86 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB through 14 innings. He'll be closer to sea level for his next start, which is projected to be on the road versus the Angels this weekend.

Strikes out seven in MLB debut Perez did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing two runs on four hits and two walks over 4.2 innings during a 7-4 loss to Cincinnati. He struck out seven.

Impact Perez made the jump from Double-A Pensacola to make his MLB debut Friday, and despite taking a no-decision, he impressed with his stuff and gave Miami a chance to compete. Both of the runs he allowed came via solo home runs, but he kept the bases clean for the most part and half of the rookie's outs were strikeouts. The 20-year-old presumably did enough to earn another start at the big-league level, which is tentatively scheduled for a three-game set versus Washington next week.

There may be some ups-and-downs for Perez in his first taste of major-league action, but everything is here for him to provide fantasy relevance from the minute he steps on the field.

Impact Just a few days after his 20th birthday, the right-hander carved up an overmatched Birmingham lineup, producing 17 swinging strikes among his 71 pitches. It's Perez's first win of the year, and while his 17:5 K:BB through 14 innings in three starts perhaps isn't as dominant as many expected, it's important to remember that he's the youngest pitcher at the Double-A level. Merely holding his own against much older hitters would be impressive enough, but Perez has the talent -- and the high 90s heat -- to do much more. Despite his age, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him force a promotion to Triple-A sometime over the summer.
