Playing time dwindling Ruiz will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Tigers.

Impact Though he'll be included in the lineup for the series finale, the 23-year-old rookie is starting for only the second time in seven games and looks like he'll be stuck in a short-side platoon role for the time being. The Padres could welcome Wil Myers (knee) back from the 10-day injured list later this week, at which point Ruiz could be a natural candidate to get optioned back to Triple-A El Paso in a corresponding move.

Takes seat Sunday Ruiz is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks.

Impact Ruiz will head to the bench for the Friars' final contest before the All-Star break after he went 5-for-18 with a pair of extra-base hits, two RBI, one run and one stolen base while starting in each of his first five games following his promotion from Triple-A El Paso earlier in the week. Considering Ruiz swiped 60 bags between stops at Triple-A and Double-A San Antonio prior to his call-up, he may be worth a flier for fantasy managers in deeper mixed leagues looking to add some speed to their rosters.

Swipes first big-league bag Ruiz went 1-for-4 with a double, a run and a stolen base in Thursday's loss to Colorado.

Impact Ruiz doubled and stole third base in the third inning, and he came around to score on a sacrifice fly. The aggressive baserunning was a good sign for fantasy managers who are hoping the rookie can be a difference-maker in the stolen-base category. The theft was his first in the majors after he swiped 60 bags in 69 attempts between Double-A and Triple-A prior to his recent call-up.

Getting everyday look Ruiz will start in left field and bat eighth in Thursday's game against the Rockies.

Impact After making his MLB debut in center field Tuesday, Ruiz will now pick up his second straight start in left field while Jose Azocar remains on the bench. The speedy 23-year-old rookie looks like he'll be a regular in the San Diego lineup until the Padres get one of Jurickson Profar (concussion) or Wil Myers (knee) back from the injured list.

Two hits in debut Ruiz went 2-for-4 with an RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Rockies. He was also caught stealing once.

Impact Ruiz hit a single in his first major-league at-bat. He added an RBI single in the eighth inning, but he was caught attempting to steal third to end the frame. The 23-year-old will likely be a huge speed asset when in the lineup -- he's logged 60 stolen bases in 77 games between Double-A and Triple-A action this season. He figures to get a chance to challenge for playing time primarily in left field with Jurickson Profar (concussion) out, though Ruiz started in center field in his big-league debut Tuesday to give Trent Grisham a partial day off.

Impact One of San Diego's top prospects, Ruiz will make his major-league debut Tuesday after appearing in only 28 games at the Triple-A level. The 23-year-old began the season with Double-A San Antonio and posted a 1.085 OPS to earn a promotion, and he responded with a .315/.457/.477 slash line with El Paso. His main fantasy appeal comes from his speed, however, as he collected a whopping 60 stolen bases in 69 attempts over 77 games between the two minor-league stops. The Padres are likely to give him a look in an everyday role while he's up with the big club.
