Scooped up by Texas The Rangers claimed Colina (elbow) off waivers from the Twins on Wednesday. Impact After making his MLB debut last September as a reliever for Minnesota, Colina remained on the Twins' 40-man roster heading into the 2021 campaign. The hard-throwing righty was expected to contend for a role in the Minnesota bullpen, but he never gained any traction in his bid for a spot on the Opening Day roster after experiencing elbow inflammation in the spring. Colina made limited progress in his recovery over the following two months before eventually undergoing a season-ending arthroscopic debridement of his posterior elbow in late May. Minnesota's decision to expose him to waivers suggests the organization wasn't confident in his long-term outlook, but the Rangers will take a flier on the 24-year-old with the hope of a healthy return to action in 2021. He'll be placed on the 60-day injured list for now, but the Rangers will eventually need to activate him and clear a spot for him on the 40-man roster once he's deemed 100 percent.
