Laureano and Machado homer to back Márquez in Padres' 9-5 win against Rockies

Ramón Laureano hit a go-ahead, three-run homer in the fourth inning and Manny Machado had a two-run shot for the San Diego Padres, who rallied from an early 4-0 deficit to beat the...
APRIL 12 • Associated Press
Taking advantage of playng time Julien went 2-for-4 with two runs scored, two RBI and a walk Wednesday against the Astros.
Impact Julien served as Colorado's leadoff hitter for the third consecutive game. He's performed well in that span, going 5-for-12 with four RBI and three runs scored. Julien began the season as a part-time player, though his strong performance could earn him additional playing time in at least the short term.
APRIL 9 • ROTOWIRE
Gaining traction atop lineup Julien will start at second base and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Astros.
Impact Julien will handle leadoff duties for a third straight contest and appears to have at least temporarily reclaimed a spot in the Rockies' starting nine against right-handed pitching while Jake McCarthy (.385 OPS) and Jordan Beck (.268 OPS) have struggled out of the gate and have lost out on playing time as a result. With a .513 OPS in 20 plate appearances, Julien has been marginally better, but he'll likely need to raise his production to ensure he sticks atop the lineup on a longer-term basis.

Rockies score 8 runs in the fifth inning and beat the Astros 9-7

Troy Johnston hit a solo homer, a double and a single and the Colorado Rockies rode an eight-run fifth inning to a 9-7 victory over the Houston Astros on Monday night
APRIL 7 • Associated Press
Sits for third time in four games Julien is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Julien started at designated hitter in the Rockies' first two games of the season, but he's now been left out of the lineup three times in the last four contests, with each of those absences coming against right-handed pitchers. Rather than leaning on Julien as their regular DH, Rockies manager Warren Schaeffer seems content to rotate a number of players at that spot.
APRIL 1 • ROTOWIRE
Not in Tuesday's lineup Julien is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact Julien has gone 1-for-7 with a double and four strikeouts while starting three of Colorado's first four games of the season, and he'll hit the bench for Tuesday's contest. TJ Rumfleld will shift to designated hitter and Willi Castro to first base, opening up the keystone for Ryan Ritter.
MARCH 31 • ROTOWIRE
Exiting lineup Sunday Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins.
Impact Julien had served as the Rockies' designated hitter in the team's first two games of the season, going 1-for-5 with a double. Though he should have a fairly clear path to at-bats while Mickey Moniak (finger) is on the shelf, Julien will be the odd man out of the lineup Sunday while Hunter Goodman gets a day off from catching but sticks in the starting nine at DH.
MARCH 29 • ROTOWIRE
Starting at DH in opener Julien will start at designated hitter and bat eighth in Friday's opener in Miami.
Impact The placement of Mickey Moniak (finger) on the 10-day injured list will free up some at-bats at DH and in the outfield for the Rockies. Julien will get the first crack at DH, though it could be a revolving door in that spot. The 26-year-old was acquired from the Twins over the offseason.
MARCH 27 • ROTOWIRE
Secures Opening Day roster spot Manager Warren Schaeffer said Sunday that Julien will be included on the Rockies' Opening Day roster, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact Julien has no minor-league options remaining, so he always seemed to be in good position to make the Opening Day roster even after producing a middling .693 OPS during Cactus League play. The 26-year-old's role remains unclear, however, and he could find playing time tough to come by if he's unable to secure a strong-side platoon job at first base, second base or designated hitter. Julien offers limited defensive utility and owns a lowly .209/.278/.313 slash line (66 wRC+) over 126 career plate appearances versus left-handed pitchers.

Leo Jiménez's leaping grab | 03/08/2026 Leo Jiménezn makes a great leaping grab to rob Edouard Julien of a hit for the first out in the bottom of the 3rd inning\n
MARCH 9 • MLB.COM
Back in action Sunday Julien (back) will start at designated hitter and bat second in Sunday's Cactus League game against the Guardians.
Impact Julien hadn't played since Tuesday while he contended with back tightness, but a few days off was apparently all he needed to move past the issue. The 26-year-old will be competing for a strong-side platoon role at either first base or DH throughout spring training.
MARCH 1 • ROTOWIRE
Nursing lower-back tightness Julien is dealing with lower-back tightness, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Impact It's not clear when Julien was injured, but he last played Tuesday. Consider him day-to-day for the time being. The left-handed-hitting Julien is competing for reps against right-handed pitching and looks to be among the favorites for starts at first base.

JANUARY 28 • MLB.COM
Shipped to Colorado The Rockies acquired Julien and Pierson Ohl from the Twins on Wednesday in exchange for Jace Kaminska and cash considerations.
Impact Julien is out of minor-league options and has slashed only .208/.299/.324 with a 32 percent strikeout rate over the last two seasons. However, he also boasts a 13 percent walk rate and 11.8 percent barrel rate at the major-league level. The left-handed-hitting Julien has a good chance of seeing regular playing time versus right-handed pitching, whether that's at one position or bouncing around to multiple spots.

Idle against another lefty Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Impact The left-handed-hitting Julien will remain on the bench for the second day in a row while the Phillies send another lefty (Cristopher Sanchez) to the hill. If he's not needed off the bench Sunday, Julien will wrap up the season with a .220/.309/.324 slash line to go with three home runs, 13 runs and 12 RBI over 208 plate appearances.

On bench for third straight Julien is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Padres.
Impact The Twins have now left Julien out of the lineup for three consecutive contests, which follows a stretch of four straight starts in which he went 2-for-13 with a double and three walks. Julien has produced a poor .545 OPS since getting called up from Triple-A St. Paul on Aug. 1 and may play second fiddle to Kody Clemens at first base and Luke Keaschall at second base moving forward.

Mickey Gasper hit a game-tying home run in the ninth inning, Matt Wallner added a go-ahead homer and the Minnesota Twins rallied to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 7-5
AUGUST 27, 2025 • Associated Press
Settling in at first base Julien is starting at first base and batting fifth in Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Impact It's his third straight start at first base and the fourth time over the last five contests that he's manned the position. Additionally, this is the highest Julien has batted all season. The 26-year-old is slashing just .186/.222/.279 this month, but it appears the Twins might want to give Julien a long look at first base while Kody Clemens settles into a utility role.

Settling in at first base Julien will start at first base and bat fifth in Tuesday's game versus the Blue Jays.
Impact He'll pick up his third straight start at first base and will man the position for the fourth time in five contests. The 26-year-old is slashing just .186/.222/.279 this month, but the Twins might want to give Julien a long look at first base while Kody Clemens settles into more of a utility role.
