Grabs win in bulk-relief outing May (6-6) allowed five hits and three walks while striking out four over 4.2 scoreless relief innings to earn the win Monday over the Twins.
Impact May worked in tandem with Shohei Ohtani, who allowed one run over the first three innings of the game. This could be a valuable reset for May, who had been torched to the tune of a 6.05 ERA and 1.50 WHIP across his previous seven starts, spanning 38.2 innings. For the season, May is at a 4.73 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 92:43 K:BB through 99 innings. This bulk-relief outing was expected to be a one-time situation for May, though it's not yet clear when he'll next pitch, especially with Blake Snell (shoulder) nearing a return that would give the Dodgers their healthiest rotation yet in 2025.

Working in tandem with Ohtani Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that May will be used out of the bullpen in Monday's game against the Twins as part of a pitching tandem with Shohei Ohtani, Jack Harris of the Lo...
Impact May's upcoming relief appearance will be his first at the big-league level since 2020, though Roberts suggested it would be a "one-off" arrangement. Though May doesn't appear to have lost his spot in the rotation, the Dodgers are hoping that working behind Ohtani will yield better results for the 27-year-old, who was roughed up for seven earned runs on five hits and four walks over 4.2 innings. Roberts said that the Dodgers are planning to limit Ohtani to three innings Monday, so May should be well positioned to come away with a win if he's able to exit the relief appearance with Los Angeles in the lead.

Hit hard by Giants May (5-6) allowed seven runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four over 4.2 innings to take the loss Friday versus the Giants.
Impact May gave up a pair of solo home runs as well as a two-run triple. He ran into trouble in the fifth inning, and Anthony Banda was unable to cut off the Giants' rally, which ultimately was too much for the Dodgers to overcome. The seven runs allowed matched a season high for May, who has had mixed results at best since the start of June. He's now at a 4.96 ERA, 1.35 WHIP and 88:40 K:BB through 94.1 innings over 17 starts this season. The Dodgers' rotation is getting healthier with Shohei Ohtani building up and Tyler Glasnow returning from a shoulder injury Wednesday, but it's safe to assume May will continue to have a spot at least until Blake Snell (shoulder) is ready to return.

Dazzles in win over White Sox May (5-5) allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out nine over seven-plus innings to earn the win over the White Sox on Thursday.
Impact May retired the first 16 batters he faced in this dominant outing, which also saw him pitch into the eighth inning for the first time this year. That's where he started to fade, allowing a two-run home run to Brooks Baldwin that ended his start. May was mediocre in June, posting a 5.67 ERA across 27 innings over his five starts last month, but July is off to a better start for him after he took advantage of an easy matchup. The right-hander is now at a 4.52 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 84:36 K:BB over 89.2 innings through 16 starts. His next start is expected to be on the road versus the Brewers.

Battles to no-decision May took a no-decision after throwing four innings, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out three, during Friday's 5-4 win over the Royals.
Impact May battled through his shortest start of the season Friday. Walks were again an issue for the 27-year-old. After three more walks against the Royals, he has now walked 13 batters over his last four starts. It will be interesting to monitor how the right-hander will hold up over the second half of the season. He's already up to over 82 innings on the year, well past his previous career high of 56 innings.

Rattled by homers in loss May (4-5) took the loss against Washington on Saturday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings.
Impact May got through three scoreless frames before James Wood and Luis Garcia Jr. tagged him for back-to-back solo homers in the fourth. Nathaniel Lowe tacked on another solo homer in the sixth, and the Dodgers were unable to provide enough offense to take the righty hurler off the hook. May did manage to notch a quality start -- his second straight and his seventh of the season -- so the end result wasn't a complete disaster. His next matchup is expected to be a road matchup versus Kansas City.

Picks up fourth win May (4-4) allowed three runs on six hits and four walks while striking out three over six innings to earn the win over the Giants on Sunday.
Impact May gave up all three runs in the fourth inning, but the Dodgers regained the lead on an Andy Pages three-run homer in the fifth. That was enough to give May his first win over three starts in June -- he's allowed 11 runs (10 earned) with a 9:10 K:BB over 17 innings this month. The right-hander has pitched to a 4.46 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 67:30 K:BB through 72.2 innings through 13 starts on the year. May is tentatively scheduled to draw a home start versus the Nationals his next time out.

Sloppy work in no-decision May allowed six runs (five earned) on six hits and four walks while striking out one over five innings in a no-decision versus the Padres on Monday.
Impact May gave up all six runs within the first three innings. He ended the outing with 89 pitches (48 strikes) but exited with the game tied, sparing him the loss despite not having his best stuff. The four walks were a season high, while the one strikeout matched his season low. May's poor outing put him at a 4.46 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 64:26 K:BB across 66.2 innings over 12 starts this season. He's projected to make his next start at home versus the Giants this weekend.

Posts quality start in no-decision May allowed two runs on six hits and two walks while striking out five batters over six innings in a no-decision against the Mets on Monday.
Impact May gave up a homer to Francisco Lindor on his second pitch of the game but sailed pretty smoothly thereafter, allowing just one additional run over his six frames. The right-hander tossed an efficient 88 pitches (58 strikes) but induced just five whiffs, though he did manage a respectable five punchouts. May has recorded a quality start in three of his past five outings and has a 3.77 ERA during that span. He's lined up to make his next start on the road against St. Louis.

Racks up nine punchouts May (3-4) allowed three runs on four hits and two walks over five innings Tuesday, striking out nine and earning a win over Cleveland.
Impact May worked through three scoreless frames before coughing up a three-run shot to Daniel Schneemann in the fourth inning. Beyond that, May didn't face much trouble as he struck out a season-high nine batters. He's posted an impressive 25:5 K:BB over his last three starts but he's given up eight runs over 16 frames during that span. May is sporting a 4.20 ERA with a 58:20 K:BB through 55.2 innings this season. He's lined up to face the Mets at home next week, where he'll look for a third straight win.

Nabs win with standout start May (2-4) earned the win over Arizona on Wednesday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out eight batters over six innings.
Impact May had hit a bit of a rough patch coming into Wednesday, posting a 6.51 ERA over his previous five starts. The right-hander turned things around in fine fashion against Arizona, however, notching his fourth quality start of the campaign but just his second over his past six appearances. May actually was in position to take the loss when he threw his final pitch, but a three-run home run by Teoscar Hernandez in the bottom of the sixth inning turned a 1-0 Dodgers deficit into a 3-1 lead and resulted in the hurler's second victory of the campaign. May had plenty of positive takeaways from this outing -- he tied a season high with eight punchouts and racked up 14 whiffs -- and will look to build upon the victory in what's projected to be a road start in Cleveland his next time on the mound.

Yields four runs Friday May (1-4) took the loss Friday versus the Angels, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over five innings.
Impact The eight strikeouts were a season high for the right-hander, giving him a bright spot in an otherwise lackluster outing. This was May's third straight loss, and he's allowed 10 runs over 17.1 innings in that span, despite a strong 19:5 K:BB. May is at a 4.43 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB across 44.2 innings through eight starts this season. Assuming the Dodgers stick with a six-man rotation next week, he's projected for a road start versus the Mets, though May could be bumped up to start at home versus the Diamondbacks if Matt Sauer or Landon Knack gets moved to the bullpen.
MAY 17, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Quality start in loss May (1-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and a walk while striking out five over 6.2 innings to take the loss Saturday versus the Diamondbacks.
Impact May earned his third quality start of the season with his longest outing in 2025, but he didn't get any run support. The Dodgers managed just seven baserunners in the contest and couldn't scrape together a run, leaving May to take his second loss in a row. He's allowed 16 runs over 22.2 innings across his last four starts. Overall, the right-hander has a 4.08 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 33:15 K:BB across 39.2 innings through seven starts. May's start next week will be at home, either against the Athletics or the Angels, depending on how the Dodgers align their rotation after Roki Sasaki struggled Friday in his first taste of pitching on five days' rest.
MAY 11, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Tagged for two homers in loss May (1-2) allowed four runs on five hits and two walks while striking out six over 5.2 innings, taking the loss Sunday versus Atlanta.
Impact Four of the seven baserunners May allowed led to trouble, as he twice put Alex Verdugo aboard before Austin Riley homered in the first and third innings. The long ball hasn't typically been a problem for May this year -- he had allowed just one homer over his first five starts. He's now at a 4.36 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 28:14 K:BB across 33 innings. His 3.8 BB/9 is a bit elevated, and he's walked multiple batters in five of six starts, so that's an area he'll need to improve in to find more success. May is projected for a road start in Arizona in his next trip to the mound.
MAY 5, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Falters late in no-decision May allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out three batters in 5.1 innings in a no-decision against Miami on Monday.
Impact May appeared to be en route to a win after completing five scoreless innings, but things took a turn for the worse for him in the sixth. In that frame, the right-hander allowed the first three batters he faced to reach base, and they all came around to score before the inning was over (though two of the runs charged to May crossed the plate following his departure). This was still a better performance for May after he gave up a career-worst seven runs over five innings against the Cubs in his previous trip to the mound, but over his past two contests, May's ERA has jumped from a sparkling 1.06 to a less-impressive 3.95.

Tyler Glasnow placed on 15-day IL, but help is on the way for Dodgers rotation
Gives up career-high seven runs May didn't factor into the decision against the Cubs on Tuesday after allowing seven runs on 10 hits and three walks in five innings. He struck out five.
Impact On top of facing a Cubs offense that entered the day leading the majors in runs scored, May also had to deal with the wind blowing out a bit to center field. After giving up one run or less on three hits or fewer in each of his first three starts this season, May allowed a career-worst seven runs and 10 hits Tuesday. Better days are ahead for the 27-year-old right-hander, who'll take a solid 3.68 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 19:9 K:BB over 22 innings into a much more favorable situation at home against Miami in his next scheduled start.

Fans seven in first win since 2023 May (1-1) earned the win over Colorado on Monday, allowing one run on three hits and no walks while striking out seven batters over six innings.
Impact May cruised through five scoreless frames before giving up a run in the sixth. That proved to be the right-hander's final frame, though he may have been able to go deeper given that he threw just 76 pitches (52 of which were strikes). May racked up 14 whiffs among those offerings, six of which came on his sweeper. May's victory Monday was his first of the season and his first in the big leagues since 2023. He's been very impressive to begin the campaign, posting a 1.06 ERA, 0.76 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB through 17 innings.
