INJURIES

Returns to action in AFL Jameson (elbow) tossed a scoreless inning of relief Tuesday during an appearance in the Arizona Fall League.
Impact After missing the entire 2024 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery, Jameson was back to full health for the start of spring training, but he made just three appearances for Arizona and 16 in the minors before being shut down in late June when he developed a bone fragment chip in his surgically repaired elbows. Though Jameson didn't return to action before the end of the minor-league season, he avoided another procedure on his elbow and looks like he'll be in line for a normal offseason following an excellent relief appearance Tuesday. Jameson needed only eight pitches to retire the side, sporting a fastball that topped out at 99.4 miles per hour while generating three groundballs.

Impact Placed on Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list May 20 due to a lateral right elbow injury, Jameson was cleared to pitch in ACL games in late June but made just two appearances before experiencing tightness in his pitching arm. Fortunately for Jameson, Lovullo relayed that the bone chip in the 28-year-old's elbow isn't expected to require surgery. A timeline for Jameson's return to the mound hasn't been established, however, and given that the righty previously underwent Tommy John surgery in September 2023, Arizona will likely tread carefully with his rehab program.

Still bothered by elbow injury Jameson underwent an MRI on his right elbow Tuesday after experiencing renewed tightness coming out of his rehab appearance in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League last Friday,...
Impact Jameson landed on Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list May 20 due to inflammation in his right elbow, which he previously had surgically repaired in September 2023. After a month of rest and rehab, Jameson was cleared to resumed pitching in games in the ACL last week, but he made just two appearances before suffering a setback. The Diamondbacks haven't revealed the findings of Jameson's recent MRI, but he'll presumably be out of action through at least the All-Star break.
JULY 2 • ROTOWIRE
On Triple-A IL with elbow injury Jameson was placed on the 7-day injured list at Triple-A Reno on Tuesday due to a lateral right elbow issue, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Impact The good news is that the injury is in an area of the elbow unrelated to the UCL, so it's not any sort of setback from last year's Tommy John surgery. Still, Jameson will be shut down for a few weeks before ramping things back up, so he won't be an option for the Diamondbacks for some time.
MAY 21 • ROTOWIRE
Demoted to Triple-A Jameson was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Monday, Aaron Hughes of SI.com reports.
Impact Jameson appeared in three games during his stint with the big-league club, one of which resulted in his first save April 20 against the Cubs. This move will presumably clear a roster spot for the return of Kevin Ginkel (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list, though the club has yet to officially announce a corresponding move.

Picks up first save Jameson earned a save in a scoreless inning during Sunday's extra-innings win over the Cubs.
Impact Jameson was promoted from Triple-A Reno on Saturday and secured a save in his season debut with the Diamondbacks. It was his first MLB appearance since July 6, 2023 after missing the entire 2024 campaign while recovering from Tommy John surgery. Jameson likely won't see many save opportunities out of Arizona's bullpen.

Up from Triple-A The Diamondbacks recalled Jameson from Triple-A Reno on Saturday.
Impact Jameson will be joined by J.P. Feyereisen and Juan Morillo in moving to Arizona to replace Joe Mantiply, Bryce Jarvis and the injured A.J. Puk (elbow). Jameson has been effective in seven outings with Reno, giving up two runs on 6.2 innings while punching out 10 batters and walking none.

Bid for Opening Day roster ends The Diamondbacks optioned Jameson to Triple-A Reno on Wednesday.
Impact After sitting out the entire 2024 season while recovering from his September 2023 Tommy John surgery, Jameson seemingly operated with no restrictions to begin camp, but having two minor-league options remaining likely worked against him in his bid for the Opening Day roster. Before getting demoted, Jameson made six relief appearances in Cactus League play, giving up one earned run on five hits and three walks while striking out four. He'll work out of the bullpen in Reno and should rank near the top of the list for a call-up early on in the season when Arizona requires an extra relief arm.

Allows first spring run Jameson allowed one run on two hits and one walk over one inning of relief in Monday's spring game against the Dodgers.
Impact Jameson worked the second inning of his fourth Cactus League appearance and showed off a triple-digit fastball after missing all of 2024 due to Tommy John elbow surgery. His four-seamer topped out at 101.3 mph and it averaged 97. The right-hander continues to make progress in his return and reduced the number of days between outings, per Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports. Jameson is competing for a spot as a reliever and is included in the bullpen of the latest projected roster offered by Steve Gilbert of MLB.com.

Making spring debut Wednesday Jameson (elbow) is scheduled to make his Cactus League debut in Wednesday's game against the Brewers, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.
Impact Once starter Corbin Burnes exits the contest, Jameson is on track to make what will be his first appearance at any level since July 6, 2023 after he missed the last season and a half while recovering from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in September of that year. Jameson progressed to throwing bullpen sessions by the end of last season, and his lengthy rehab program appears to have gone without any snags over the winter and during the early part of spring training. The 27-year-old is in contention for a spot in the Diamondbacks' Opening Day bullpen, but because he has two minor-league options remaining, an assignment to Triple-A Reno could be in the cards if he isn't sharp during his Cactus League appearances.

FEBRUARY 19 • AZCENTRAL.COM
Faces batters Tuesday Jameson (elbow) faced live batters Tuesday, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Impact This was Jameson's first time facing hitters since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2023. The Diamondbacks will monitor the right-hander's recovery from the session before determining next steps.
FEBRUARY 19 • ROTOWIRE
Set to throw off mound Wednesday Jameson (elbow) said that he will throw a bullpen session Wednesday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Jameson missed the entire 2024 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, which he underwent in September 2023. Though he had been able to throw off a mound by July of last season, Jameson is presumably doing so with more velocity and better command this spring now that he's further removed from the elbow procedure. The Diamondbacks could still ease Jameson along more slowly in spring training than their other healthy pitchers, but the 27-year-old right-hander said that there's "no question" he'll ready for Opening Day. If Jameson clinches a spot on the season-opening roster, he'll likely be used in lower-leverage situations initially, but he could quickly move up the pecking order in an Arizona bullpen that looks relatively unsettled.
FEBRUARY 12 • ROTOWIRE
Pegged for relief role in 2025 The Diamondbacks are likely to use Jameson (elbow) as a reliever next season, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
Impact Jameson came up through the minors as a starter and broke into the majors in that role. However, he was mostly used in relief in 2023 and pitched well in the bullpen with a 2.81 ERA and 29:11 K:BB over 32 frames. Jameson missed the 2024 season following Tommy John surgery but is expected to be ready for spring training.
DECEMBER 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Continuing recovery Jameson (elbow) will throw another bullpen session Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Jameson is set to throw his third bullpen session since July 5. He's been ruled out for the rest of 2024, though his progress bodes well for his availability to begin 2025.
JULY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Another bullpen scheduled Jameson (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday, Alex Weiner of Arizona Sports reports.
Impact Jameson will be throwing his second bullpen session since undergoing Tommy John surgery last September. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo reiterated earlier comments and ruled out any possibility the right-hander would pitch in 2024. Jameson will continue to build arm strength and prepare himself for a normal offseason.
