Austin Slater - Joining new team Tuesday Slater won't be available to make his Reds debut until Tuesday's game against the Rockies, C. Trent Rosecrans of The Athletic reports.
Impact The Reds swung a deal late Sunday to acquire Slater from the Giants, and he apparently wasn't able to catch a flight from San Francisco to Cincinnati in advance of the Reds' series opener Monday versus the Rockies. While the Reds wait for Slater to report to the club, the team called up Rece Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Monday to provide an extra body in the outfield after Stuart Fairchild (spine) joined fellow outfielders TJ Friedl (hamstring) and Nick Martini (thumb) on the injured list. Jake Fraley (personal) is also on the family medical emergency list, so Slater could have an opportunity to see meaningful work right away once he joins the Reds, even though he had largely been deployed as a short-side platoon outfielder throughout his eight-season run with the Giants.

Impact Zulueta permitted one run with four strikeouts over a three-inning relief appearance in his major-league debut with the Reds last month. The 26-year-old will fill a middle relief role in Cincinnati.

Rece Hinds - Joins big-league roster The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Impact It's the first stint in the majors for Hinds, who has slashed .216/.290/.409 in 77 contests this season with Louisville. The 23-year-old has hit 13 home runs and stolen 12 bases with Louisville but also an ugly 38.4 percent strikeout rate. Hinds will provide depth for a banged-up Reds outfield corps, but it seems unlikely he'll play much.

Graham Ashcraft - Heads back to minors The Reds optioned Ashcraft to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Impact Ashcraft's latest stint in the Reds' rotation lasted three turns and he allowed 10 runs with an 8:6 K:BB over 15 innings of work. Nick Lodolo (blister) is expected back this week and the Reds have elected to keep Carson Spiers in their rotation over Ashcraft.

Stuart Fairchild - Placed on IL with back injury The Reds placed Fairchild on the 10-day injured list Monday with a spine disc injury.
Impact Fairchild evidently suffered the injury during Saturday's game versus the Tigers. He will be eligible to return at the start of the second half, but it's not clear whether he'll be ready by that time. Fairchild had been seeing regular reps in center field with TJ Friedl (hamstring) out, but those now could be handled by Will Benson and/or the newly acquired Austin Slater.

Justyn-Henry Malloy - Sitting in second straight Malloy is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Guardians.
Impact Malloy will take a seat for the second day in a row against a right-handed pitcher (Gavin Williams) while the Tigers roll with Mark Canha as their designated hitter. Though his usage of late hasn't been encouraging, Malloy has performed passably since getting the call to the big leagues June 3. Through his first 27 MLB games, Malloy is hitting just .195 with a 36 percent strikeout rate, though he's provided some pop (four home runs, two doubles) and is walking in 10.1 percent of his plate appearances. He'll likely see his playing time dip when the Tigers are at full strength, but unless his production drops further, Malloy should at least have a semi-regular spot in the lineup until Detroit gets Kerry Carpenter (back) and/or Parker Meadows (hamstring) back from the injured list.
