Impact Greene and Spencer Torkelson are the Tigers' most promising offensive prospects, and both could see plenty of at-bats out of the gate in Grapefruit League action. Greene popped with two home runs and a 1.528 OPS in seven spring training games last season, and he'll get the chance to impress again in 2021, but the Tigers are unlikely to rush the 20-year-old to the majors. He's likely to begin the year at High-A West Michigan or possibly Double-A Erie.

Being developed as third baseman Tigers manager AJ Hinch said Monday that Torkelson will work exclusively at third base during spring training, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Impact Though significant questions remain as to whether Torkelson has enough range to stick at the hot corner long term, the Tigers will at least give the 2020 No. 1 overall pick the chance to prove he can play the position as he begins his professional career. Torkelson is already close to big-league ready at the plate, and he'll retain plenty of appeal in dynasty formats even if he's ultimately forced to move to first base.

Impact Hinch noted that while Cameron is taking part in team meetings along with batting and running drills, the 24-year-old has not yet been cleared to resume a full throwing program. Cameron isn't believed to have experienced any setbacks in his recovery from the injury, so the Tigers are seemingly just ramping him up gradually in the early stages of spring training. Cameron should be back to full health by Opening Day, but the elbow injury may be enough to keep him from the outside looking in for the Tigers' starting center field job.

Might play first base weekly Detroit manager A.J. Hinch said he is seriously considering playing Cabrera at first base one to two times per week this season, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Impact Hinch said playing Cabrera at first gives him more roster flexibility, though he added that he doesn't want to "break" the veteran. Cabrera last appeared at first in 2019 and exclusively served as the designated hitter during the shortened 2020 season, but it appears he has a real chance at playing the field in 2021. The 37-year-old's fantasy value will of course depend on what he can do at the plate, though he could at least have some more positional eligibility to work with.

Impact This is encouraging news early in camp, as Boyd acknowledged that he pitched through a hamstring injury and plantar fasciitis last season. The ailments might have contributed to his subpar 6.71 ERA and 1.48 WHIP, but if he's healthier in 2021, the lefty could return to his 2019 form, when he registered a 4.56 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 238 strikeouts across 185.1 innings.
