Jason Foley - Used in eighth inning Friday Foley pitched a clean eighth inning in Friday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays, with Tyler Holton working the ninth for the save.
Impact After Beau Brieske started the eighth inning by allowing a single, a home run and another single, the Tigers turned to Foley. He managed to retire Vladimir Guerrero, Justin Turner and Leo Jimenez in order to maintain Detroit's lead and ultimately earn a hold. While Foley might move around some due to matchups, he should still be considered the team's top option for saves, though both Holton and Shelby Miller are waiting in the wings as needed. The fluid situation depresses Foley's fantasy value a bit compared to other closers.

Mark Canha - Goes deep in return Canha (wrist) went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run in Friday's 5-4 win over the Blue Jays.
Impact Canha missed the last game before the All-Star break with a sore wrist but was able to return following the long layoff. The veteran outfielder hasn't really gotten going yet for the Tigers, as he's batting just .229 with a .688 OPS in his first season with the team. Last year, Canha batted .262 with a .755 OPS for the Brewers and Mets. He's had an OPS of .700 or better in each of the previous six seasons, so he'll need a strong finish in 2024 to keep that streak alive.

Matt Manning - On Triple-A IL with lat injury Triple-A Toledo placed Manning on its 7-day injured list Friday due to a right lat strain.
Impact Manning has been with Toledo since late May after making five starts with the Tigers early in the season. The 26-year-old had turned in a 4.53 ERA across 59.2 innings with Toledo and looked to be a candidate to step in as the Tigers' No. 5 starter coming out of the All-Star break with Casey Mize (hamstring) on the injured list, but the lat strain will remove Manning from consideration for a call-up.
