Smacks rare homer Hamilton went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Athletics.
Impact The homer was Hamilton's fifth of the season and his first in the month of September. The lefty-hitting infielder has struggled mightily at the plate in 2025, and he has been unable to take on a strong-side platoon role over the righty-hitting Romy Gonzalez at second base. Hamilton will likely remain used primarily as a pinch runner and defensive replacement, batting .201 with four doubles, 17 RBI and 21 stolen bases over 87 games.

Reaches 20-steal mark Hamilton went 1-for-3 with one RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Sunday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks.
Impact Hamilton's playing time has dropped significantly over the last week -- this was his first start since Aug. 30. Romy Gonzalez and Nick Sogard have combined to handle second base, leaving Hamilton as a bench bat and defensive replacement in most games. He's still logged two steals over five games in September and is up to 20 thefts on 25 attempts this season. The infielder has added a .203/.259/.316 slash line, four home runs, 16 RBI, 25 runs scored, four doubles and one triple over 173 plate appearances.

On bench against righty Hamilton is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
Impact Though the left-handed-hitting Hamilton has posted a 1.053 OPS in six games since being called up from Triple-A Worcester on Aug. 21, the Red Sox aren't yet ready to commit to him as a strong-side platoon player. Hamilton will be on the bench for a second straight matchup with a right-handed starter (Mitch Keller), clearing the way for Romy Gonzalez to stick in the lineup at the keystone after Gonzalez had filled in at first base for Nathaniel Lowe in the previous three contests.

Sitting out series finale Hamilton is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Orioles, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
Impact Hamilton had started in each of the Red Sox's last three games and went 4-for-10 with a home run, a double and three RBI, but the left-handed-hitting infielder will hit the bench Thursday while southpaw Cade Povich takes the hill for Baltimore. Ceddanne Rafaela will get the nod at second base in the series finale, but Hamilton could continue to see the bulk of the starts at the keystone against right-handed pitching until Wilyer Abreu's (calf) eventual return from the injured list pushes Rafaela to the infield on a more frequent basis.

Having good run Hamilton went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and three RBI in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Orioles.
Impact Hamilton's having a productive run since his recall from Triple-A Worcester last week. He's gone 6-for-15 with three extra-base hits, two walks, one steal, three RBI and five runs scored over four games. Hamilton started four of the last six games at second base, all against right-handed pitching. He should maintain a semi-regular role while Wilyer Abreu (calf) remains sidelined. Abreu's injury resulted in Ceddanne Rafaela getting more time in the outfield than at second base.

Third straight start versus righty Hamilton will start at second base and bat eighth in Monday's game against the Orioles, Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald reports.
Impact Hamilton is slashing just .193/.252/.293 over 153 plate appearances on the season for Boston, but in spite of that lack of production, he seems to have temporarily captured a regular spot in the starting nine at the keystone when the Red Sox face right-handed pitching. With Wilyer Abreu's (calf) recent move to the injured list allowing Ceddanne Rafaela to shift back to the outfield, Hamilton started in the Red Sox's previous two matchups versus righties and went 4-for-8 with a triple, two walks, four runs and one stolen base between those contests. Hamilton's track record in the majors suggests he shouldn't be expected to offer much impact with the bat moving forward, but he could be a decent source of steals while he's playing at least somewhat regularly.

Last Night in Baseball: Roman Anthony Introduced Himself to Yankee Stadium
Productive in win Hamilton went 1-for-3 with two walks, one stolen base and two runs scored in Thursday's 6-3 win over the Yankees.
Impact Hamilton was recalled from Triple-A Worcester earlier in the day and delivered a strong effort in his first game back in the big leagues. The infielder is a candidate for playing time in the middle infield, especially with Ceddanne Rafaela in line for more usage in the outfield while Wilyer Abreu (calf) is on the injured list. Hamilton's speed is his best asset -- he has 18 steals on 22 attempts in the majors this season despite slashing a meager .178/.240/.267 across 148 plate appearances.

Recall made official The Red Sox recalled Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester on Thursday.
Impact Hamilton is drawing the start at second base Thursday versus the Yankees and could see semi-regular action there if the Red Sox opt to use Ceddanne Rafaela as a full-time outfield following the injury to Wilyer Abreu (calf). The speedy Hamilton has slashed only .174/.227/.265 in 69 games with the big club this season.

Set to be recalled The Red Sox will recall Hamilton from Triple-A Worcester prior to Thursday's contest against the Yankees, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.
Impact He'll take the roster spot vacated by Abraham Toro, who will be designated for assignment. Hamilton has slashed only .174/.227/.265 in 69 games with the big club this season, but he's a better fit for Boston's bench than Toro.

Moves back to Triple-A The Red Sox optioned Hamilton to Triple-A Worcester on Monday.
Impact After being called up from Triple-A on July 25, Hamilton appeared in just eight games for Boston and was deployed mainly as a pinch runner or defensive replacement late in contests. Hamilton should get the chance to play regularly upon returning to Worcester.

Has impact off bench Hamilton entered as a pinch runner, stole two bases and scored a run in Monday's 5-4 loss to Minnesota.
Impact Hamilton pinch ran for Abraham Toro in the top of the ninth and was responsible for giving the Red Sox the lead, but Jordan Hicks was unable to close out the Twins in the bottom of the frame. Hamilton, who was recently called up from Triple-A Worcester, is up to 17 steals over 64 games. He should remain up with the team for as long as it takes Marcelo Mayer (wrist) to heal.
