Belts first big-league homer Fry went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run, a double and an additional run in Thursday's 8-6 victory versus the Padres.

Impact Fry helped Cleveland get off to a fast start with a three-run shot to left field in the first inning. It was the first long ball of his major-league career in his 20th plate appearance. Fry went deep 17 times at the Triple-A level in 2022, so he has demonstrated some pop in the past. His .227/.261/.409 slash line so far this season isn't going to turn many heads, but Fry's ability to play catcher (in addition to three infield spots) could open the door to more playing time given the offensive struggles of fellow backstops Mike Zunino and Cam Gallagher.

Starting at first base Fry is starting at first base and batting fifth for the Guardians on Monday against the Tigers, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.

Impact Fry finally gets his first start after being up with the big club for nearly a week. The 27-year-old hasn't even had a plate appearance yet, with his only action coming as a pinch-runner. Josh Naylor is getting a day off against lefty Joey Wentz.

Added to roster The Guardians selected Fry's contract from Triple-A Columbus on Monday.

Impact Fry, 27, has hit .289/.381/.478 with two homers for Columbus this season. He's played first base, third base and second base this season and also has past experience at catcher. Fry will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game.
