Inks two-year extension Bard signed a two-year, $19 million contract extension with the Rockies on Saturday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Impact Bard drew significant interest from other teams ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline and was considered one of the best relievers on the market, but he'll ultimately remain in Colorado for an additional two years. The 37-year-old has been productive in 2022 despite pitching at hitter-friendly Coors Field, converting 21 of 23 save chances with a 1.91 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in 37.2 innings over 37 appearances.

Secures 21st save Bard earned a save against the Brewers on Monday, allowing one hit and one walk in one scoreless inning.

Impact Bard entered in the ninth inning with a two-run lead, and he got into immediate danger when Christian Yelich led off for Milwaukee with a single and Willy Adames subsequently reached on an error. Bard was able to bounce back by retiring the next two batters, and he got Luis Urias to line out to end the contest after loading the bases with a walk. Bard has been a major bright spot for the Rockies this season, racking up 21 saves -- tied for fourth-most in the majors -- while posting a 1.91 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 43:19 K:BB over 37.2 innings. He struggled late in the season last year and eventually lost his closer job, but he's thus far shown no signs of slowing down in 2022.

Perfect inning for 19th save Bard struck out one in a perfect inning to earn the save in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the Padres.

Impact Bard faced the top of the Padres' order, retiring Ha-Seong Kim, Jake Cronenworth and Manny Machado on a combined 10 pitches (eight strikes). After some shakiness around the turn of the calendar from June to July, Bard has strung together three straight scoreless appearances, logging a save in each of those outings. He's 19-for-21 in save chances with a 2.14 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 41:17 K:BB across 33.2 innings overall.

Logs 18th save Bard saved Sunday's 3-2 win against the Diamondbacks, striking out two in a perfect ninth inning.

Impact Bard needed just 10 pitches to close out Sunday's victory while striking out two in the process. The 37-year-old has converted each of his last nine save chances and has delivered consecutive scoreless outings since suffering a loss July 6. Bard now possesses a 2.20 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and has struck out 40 batters in 32.2 innings.

Impact After Colorado took a one-run lead in the top of the ninth inning, Bard was brought in to close the door on the Diamondbacks. The right-hander was a bit shaky with his control -- he threw only eight of 15 pitches for strikes and walked a batter -- but he was able to get through the frame without allowing any damage on the scoreboard. Since his last blown save May 15, Bard has notched eight saves and allowed just three earned runs over 19.1 innings.

Impact Bard entered in the ninth inning of a tied game. He wasn't hit particularly hard -- the game-winning hit didn't leave the infield -- but Bard has now allowed five hits and three walks while giving up two earned runs across his last three appearances and two innings. He went through a similar shaky stretch in mid-May and was able to rebound. Most importantly, there is no indication that the Rockies are considering removing him from the closer role.

Impact Despite strong opposition from Arizona, Bard successfully protected a one-run lead and delivered his 16th save in 18 tries. Impact Pitching for the second straight day, Bard struck out Jake Cronenworth, Manny Machado and Luke Voit to record his 13th save, placing him sixth in MLB. The 36-year-old has been on a tear over the past month, firing 13 scoreless innings across his last 10 appearances while recording 16 strikeouts compared to only three walks.

Impact After tossing eight scoreless innings while converting seven saves between April 15 and May 7, Bard has struggled over his last two outings. During that time, he's allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks while striking out two in 1.1 innings. The Rockies came back from a 6-0 deficit by scoring seven runs in the bottom of the seventh inning Sunday, but Bard let the lead slip away in the ninth. In spite of his recent struggles, the right-hander has built up decent job security as Colorado's closer by converting all but two of his 11 save chances this season.
