Impact The $50 million extension was reported early in the week, but it apparently took a few days for the two sides to hammer out all the details. Regardless, the 21-year-old Pratt has now been officially added to the 40-man roster and could be with Milwaukee for the next decade. He's received his first taste of the Triple-A level this year after posting a .242/.344/.354 slash line with eight homers and 30 steals at Double-A in 2025. Pratt will likely need to show some improvement with his bat before the Brewers give him a look in the majors, but his glove at shortstop is likely already big-league ready.

Finalizing contract extension The Brewers are close to signing Pratt to an eight-year contract extension worth more than $50 million, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.

Impact The deal will also include two option years, locking Pratt up for as long as 10 years. Pratt began this season at Triple-A Nashville after slashing .238/.343/.348 with eight home runs, 31 stolen bases and a 67:80 BB:K over 120 games at Double-A Biloxi in 2025. Inking Pratt to a long-term deal signals that the Brewers intend to call the 21-year-old up to the majors. Pratt has played shortstop almost exclusively in pro ball, but he could be an option at third base for Milwaukee.

Power drought at Double-A Pratt is slashing .239/.331/.351 with four home runs, 13 steals, a 10.1 percent walk rate and a 15.1 percent strikeout rate in 54 games for Double-A Biloxi.

Impact Pratt's 27.5 percent hard-hit rate is actually pretty strong, especially for a 20-year-old shortstop at Double-A, but Pratt has managed just one home run while hitting .223 over his last 36 games. Pratt is the fifth-youngest qualified hitter at Double-A, as he won't turn 21 until August. Given the strength of his hit tool and the fact he isn't an extreme groundball hitter (40.6 GB% at Double-A), Pratt should access more game power as he adds strength to his 6-foot-3, 206-pound frame.

Impact Pratt just turned 20 last month but will join Biloxi for the postseason. He began the season at Single-A Carolina and has slashed .277/.362/.406 with eight home runs and 27 stolen bases over 96 games between Carolina and High-A Wisconsin. Pratt was a sixth-round pick in the 2023 First-Year Player Draft.
