Steady in win over Arizona Gordon (4-2) allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks while striking out four over 5.2 innings to earn the win over the Diamondbacks on Monday.
Impact Gordon was hit by a comebacker July 7 versus the Guardians but avoided the injured list and was cleared a day later. He pitched out of the bullpen prior to the All-Star break, tossing a scoreless inning against the Rangers on July 13. He was good enough in his return to the rotation Monday, coming up one out shy of a quality start while throwing 89 pitches (62 strikes) in the start. For the year, he's at a 4.53 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 48:11 K:BB through 57.2 innings over 12 appearances (11 starts). Gordon is tentatively scheduled for a favorable home start versus the Athletics this weekend.

Settles for no-decision Gordon did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing four runs on nine hits and two walks over 4.2 innings against the Rockies. He struck out three.
Impact The right-hander gave up a first-inning homer to Hunter Goodman and went on to allow a season-high nine hits, but managed to limit the damage enough to help the Astros secure a win Tuesday. Gordon has been steady, if unspectacular, through nine starts this season, posting a 3-1 record with a 4.37 ERA and 1.41 WHIP over 45.1 innings.

Tosses five scoreless frames in win Gordon (3-1) earned the win over Philadelphia on Wednesday, allowing four hits and striking out four batters over five scoreless innings.
Impact Gordon demonstrated excellent control in the outing, throwing 57 of 80 pitches for strikes and issuing zero walks. That's been the strongest point of his rookie campaign -- he now has a 38:5 K:BB over 40.2 innings. Gordon finished Wednesday's appearance without giving up a run for the first time this season, lowering his ERA to 3.98. The southpaw has been better than that of late, allowing two or fewer earned runs in each of his past four starts and registering a 3-0 record during that span. He's in line to face the Rockies at Coors Field in his next outing.

Middling results against A's Gordon allowed three runs (two earned) on seven hits and a walk while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Thursday.
Impact The long ball was again a problem for Gordon, who gave up solo home runs to Willie MacIver and Lawrence Butler in the second inning. This was the third time in four starts where Gordon has given up multiple homers, though he's done a decent job of limiting the damage when he can keep the ball down. He's yet to give up more than four runs in any start, but he's also pitched into the sixth inning just twice. He's at a 4.54 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 34:5 K:BB through 35.2 innings, and it's that sharp control that will eventually help him find success. Gordon has a tough matchup ahead, as his next start is projected to be at home versus the Phillies.
