Blake Walston - Gearing up for relief role Walston (elbow) struck out two and allowed one hit in a scoreless inning during a rehab appearance Wednesday with Triple-A Reno.
Impact Walston had been a full-time starter throughout his minor-league career and started in two of his seven appearances for the Diamondbacks in 2024 before undergoing Tommy John surgery last spring. The Diamondbacks may still be viewing the 25-year-old as a starter for the long haul, but he looks as though he'll be preparing for a multi-inning relief role for the remainder of the season once he returns from the 60-day injured list. He's been used out of the bullpen for each of his first three rehab appearances, covering four innings while striking out three and allowing one unearned run on two hits and no walks.

Ryan Thompson - Starts throwing again Thompson (back) began a throwing program Monday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.
Impact Arizona placed Thompson on the 15-day injured list Aug. 5, so his ability to start throwing soon after being deactivated suggests that he won't be in line for an extended stay on the shelf. Thompson had collected seven holds and four wins while pitching to a 4.43 ERA and 1.57 WHIP in 40.2 innings over 46 appearances out of the Arizona bullpen prior to landing on the IL.

Edouard Julien - Sent outright to Triple-A The Rockies outrighted Julien to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
Impact Julien was booted off the 40-man roster earlier this week, but he will remain in the organization after passing through waivers. The 27-year-old infielder has slashed .208/.322/.292 this season with the Rockies.
