Eyeing minimum-length stay Holderman (shoulder) said Tuesday that he expects to return from the 15-day injured list when first eligible June 24 or shortly thereafter, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Impact Holderman said he plans on resuming a throwing program in a few days after a recent MRI confirmed that he's dealing with a minor impingement of his right shoulder rather than a longer-term injury. Before landing on the IL, Holderman had emerged as a key piece out of the bullpen, accruing three wins while generating a 3.18 ERA, 1.24 WHIP and 14:4 K:BB across 11.1 innings.

Hits injured list Holderman was placed on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a right shoulder impingement, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Impact The move was backdated to Wednesday, leaving Holderman eligible to return June 24, though it's unclear if he'll have a shot at a minimum-length stay. Jake Reed was recalled to take his place in the bullpen.

Collects first MLB win Holderman (1-0) gave up an unearned run on one hit in the 10th inning Thursday but was credited with the win in a 7-6 victory over the Cardinals.

Impact In his third career big-league appearance, Holderman got the call in the top of the 10th and allowed the phantom runner to score from third base on a groundball double play, but the rookie was rewarded for his effort when Pete Alonso walked it off in the bottom of the frame with a two-run blast. Holderman was one of the surprises of spring training for the Mets, and he's shown that performance was no fluke by posting a 0.00 ERA and 3:1 K:BB through his first three MLB innings after strong numbers at Triple-A Syracuse. Given the injuries in the Mets' rotation, the 26-year-old's ability to work longer stints -- three of his nine appearances for Syracuse were two innings, including his final two before his promotion -- could prove vital as manager Buck Showalter patches together his staff.
