Out with wrist inflammation The Guardians placed Holderman on the 15-day injured list Friday with right wrist inflammation, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports.

Impact Holderman first developed the wrist issue in mid-August, and it's continued to nag at him enough to finally force an IL stint. The righty reliever will be eligible for activation Sept. 19, but it's unclear whether he will be ready to go on that date.

Impact Holderman was pulled from his Aug. 15 outing due to right wrist inflammation, though he's made two appearances since without issue. He looked particularly sharp Monday night and appears to have put the minor wrist issue in the past. The right-hander owns a 2.29 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 49 strikeouts and one save over 51.0 innings this season.

Impact Holderman was removed with two outs in the seventh inning after throwing a wild pitch. The right-hander was allowed a few warmup pitches before Guardians manager Stephen Vogt decided to lift him from the game. "He probably could have pitched through it, but I didn't like the look on his face," Vogt said. "Obviously we got him out of there at the right time, so we're hoping it's a day-to-day thing." Holderman, who has been a bright spot in the bullpen, was shut down for six weeks last season due to a similar injury. He had allowed runs in two of his previous four outings, although it's unclear if the wrist played a role in those results. Holderman entered Saturday with 2.42 ERA and 093 WHIP over 48 apperances (48.1 innings).
