Thriving at Triple-A Thomas is slashing .301/.361/.568 with 16 home runs and three steals in 61 games for Triple-A Las Vegas.

Impact Thomas played 73 games at Triple-A last year, and he has cut his strikeout rate from 30.3 percent in 2024 to 26.3 percent this year while upping his hard-hit rate from 36.4 percent to 40.5 percent. Thomas isn't on the 40-man roster and is best suited to play corner outfield, so he may need an injury or a trade to get a look in the coming weeks, even though it seems like his bat is ready for a new challenge.

Returns to action over weekend Thomas (knee) played in Cactus League games Saturday and Sunday and went a combined 2-for-5 with a home run, an additional run and two RBI while playing 13 innings in left field.

Impact Thomas' pair of appearances were his first since March 15, when he exited a game against the Rangers after taking a line drive off his right knee. The outfielder had already been reassigned to minor-league camp March 10, so the injury wasn't a factor in him not making the Opening Day roster. Thomas is expected to begin the 2025 season at Triple-A Sacramento.

X-Rays negative on right knee X-rays came back negative on Thomas' right knee following Saturday's spring game against the Rangers, Jessica Kleinschmidt of TheComeback.com reports.

Impact Jones was removed in the sixth inning of Saturday's game after taking a hard liner from Brent Rooker while standing on third base. Jones appears to have avoided a serious injury following X-rays, but he'll undergo further tests over the next couple of days to determine the severity of the issue. Jones finished the 2024 regular season in Triple-A and could see some time in the majors in 2025.

Exits Saturday's game Thomas left in the sixth inning of Saturday's spring game against the Rangers due to a knee injury, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Impact Thomas took a hard liner to the right knee from Brent Rooker while standing on third base. Thomas exited the game with the help of a trainer, and the club should provide an update on the 24-year-old once he's undergone further testing. Thomas spent the second half of the 2024 regular season with Triple-A Las Vegas and finished with a slash line of .272/.344/.559 with 17 home runs and 45 RBI across 314 plate appearances.

Excelling at Triple-A level Thomas owns a .306 average and .979 OPS across 165 plate appearances over 37 games with Triple-A Las Vegas since being promoted to the affiliate June 18.

Impact The Athletics' No. 2 prospect is delivering amply on his potential, actually outperforming his Double-A numbers by a comfortable margin and impressively generating 24 extra-base hits across his 44 knocks. The one minor quibble with Thomas' production with the Aviators is that his stolen-base numbers are down -- he's just 2-for-5 in that department -- but his prior body of work in the minors suggests that's more of an outlier.
