Cleveland Indians vs. Toronto Blue Jays: Live updates from Game 103 Owen Miller and the Indians take on Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre.
AUGUST 2, 2021 CLEVELAND.COM
Oscar Mercado - Gets another start Mercado will start in right field and bat sixth Monday against the Blue Jays.
Impact Mercado remains in the lineup for the fourth time in five games, but he's mostly benefited from Cleveland facing a slew of lefty starting pitchers of late. The righty-hitting Mercado will likely find himself out of the lineup more often than not versus right-handed pitching, with Harold Ramirez, Myles Straw and Bradley Zimmer typically representing Cleveland's preferred outfield configuration on those occasions. Since being promoted from Triple-A Columbus on June 28, Mercado has slashed an unremarkable .212/.297/.348 across 74 plate appearances while going 3-for-4 on stolen-base attempts.

Bradley Zimmer - Benched versus lefty Zimmer is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Blue Jays.
Impact The lefty-hitting Zimmer will take a seat with southpaw Robbie Ray on the hill for Toronto, but the 28-year-old still looks to have a spot in Cleveland's everyday lineup versus right-handed pitching. Oscar Mercado will pick up a start in the outfield in place of Zimmer.

Owen Miller - Gets third consecutive start Miller will start at first base and bat seventh Monday against the Blue Jays.
Impact Miller will collect his third start in a row Monday, but he likely won't have a path to regular at-bats against right-handed pitching now that Bobby Bradley (personal) has been reinstated from the bereavement list. The lefty-hitting Bradley will sit Monday with a southpaw (Robbie Ray) on the hill for Toronto, but the righty-hitting Miller should fill the short side of a platoon at first base moving forward.

Yu Chang - Sent to minors Cleveland optioned Chang to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact Rather than Chang, Cleveland will keep Owen Miller around as a short-side platoon partner at first base with the lefty-hitting Bobby Bradley, who was reinstated from the bereavement list Monday in a corresponding move. Chang appeared in 11 games during his latest stint in the big leagues, going 7-for-29 with three runs and two RBI.
AUGUST 2, 2021 ROTOWIRE
Daniel Johnson - Ticketed for Triple-A Cleveland optioned Johnson to Triple-A Columbus on Monday, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Impact Johnson had started in only one of Cleveland's last four games, as the club's recent acquisition of Myles Straw from the Astros had seemingly bumped the 26-year-old down a peg in the outfield pecking order. During his three-plus-week stint in the big leagues, Johnson appeared in 15 games and slashed .257/.278/.429. Johnson will get the opportunity to play on an everyday basis once he heads back to Columbus.
