Ben Lively - Roughed up in loss Lively (0-1) took the loss against the Padres on Wednesday, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four batters in 4.1 frames.
Impact Lively got off to a decent start Wednesday, striking out four of the first nine batters he faced. However, things took a turn for the worse in the third inning after four consecutive hits -- capped off by a Jackson Merrill homer -- gave San Diego a 4-0 lead that it would never relinquish. Lively is now up to a 6.75 ERA through his first two starts of the year but should have a decent chance to bounce back in his next outing, which is tentatively scheduled to come next week against the White Sox.

Luis Arraez - Homers, swipes bag in win Arraez went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, an additional run scored and a stolen base in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Guardians.
Impact After an uncharacteristic 0-for-16 start from the three-time batting champion, Arraez has begun to look like his regular self with hits in three consecutive games. Wednesday's contest also saw the 27-year-old belt his first home run of the season, though fantasy managers shouldn't expect many more long balls from him after he finished 2024 with just four homers.

Robert Suarez - Secures save No. 3 Suarez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to record his third save of the year in Wednesday's 5-2 win against the Guardians.
Impact Suarez's start to the regular season has made his disastrous spring training feel like a distant memory. He's now converted all three of his save opportunities while striking out four batters and allowing just one man to reach base via a walk. The 34-year-old remains one of the most reliable relievers in the game and doesn't appear to be at risk of losing his hold on the Padres' closer job.

Dylan Cease - Captures first win Cease (1-0) earned the win Wednesday against Cleveland, surrendering one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out seven batters across 6.1 innings.
Impact Cease took a shutout into the seventh inning but was pulled after a Lane Thomas groundout put the Guardians on the scoreboard. Cease's dominant showing, combined with a four-run third inning from the Padres' offense, allowed the 29-year-old righty to take home his first win of the new season fairly comfortably. He'll look to stay hot next week when he faces the Athletics on the road.

Kyle Manzardo - Makes first start in field Manzardo started at first base and went 0-for-3 with an RBI in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to the Padres.
Impact Manzardo, who served as the DH in his first five starts, made his first start in the field. The 38-year-old Carlos Santana started the first five games at first but moved to DH for the day. Manzardo, like the rest of the Guardians' hitters during the three-game set in San Diego, had a quiet series, going 0-for-9.

Nolan Jones - Logs two hits in loss Jones started in right field and went 2-for-4 with a double in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to San Diego.
Impact Jones is settling in after being acquired by the Guardians late in spring training. He had his best offensive game of the young season Wednesday after a 1-for-11 stretch with seven strikeouts over his first three outings. Jones is holding down the strong side of a platoon in right field.
