Johnathan Rodríguez - DFA'd by Cleveland The Guardians designated Rodriguez for assignment Wednesday.

Impact Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in mid-March and has now been removed from the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old played in 31 regular-season games last year and struggled to a .197/.260/.366 slash line in 77 plate appearances.

George Valera - IL move official The Guardians placed Valera (calf) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Impact The 25-year-old is beginning the season on the injured list due to a calf strain he suffered in early March. Valera was cleared for game action late in spring training, so he could begin a rehab assignment in short order.
