Impact The 24-year-old was designated for assignment by Philadelphia on Tuesday but will remain in the organization after passing through waivers unclaimed. Ortiz has yet to make his big-league debut and had a .239/.321/.419 slash line and 17 home runs in 118 games at Triple-A Reading last season.

Impact The transaction isn't much of a surprise after the 19-year-old was shut down for a month in March due to a sprained UCL in his right elbow. Painter is expected start up a throwing program next week, and it'll be awhile before he approaches game action.
