Lucas Erceg - Battling illness Erceg was unavailable for Wednesday's game against the Reds due to an illness, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact Erceg's illness helps explain why he hasn't pitched since Saturday, especially since the Royals led by only two runs entering the eighth inning of Wednesday's contest but turned to John Schreiber rather than Erceg. The 30-year-old righty will have an extra day to recover during Kansas City's day off Thursday and could be back in action for the start of the weekend series against Detroit.

Noah Cameron - Six more innings of one-run ball Cameron (2-1) tallied the win Wednesday against the Reds after allowing one run on six hits and two walks in 6.1 innings. He struck out two.
Impact It was notably Cameron's fourth straight start to begin his major-league career where he fired at least six innings while yielding one run or fewer. Although the rookie left-hander conceded a season-worst six hits and fanned a season-low two, none of his six knocks went for extra bases. Cameron will take an outstanding 1.05 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 16:8 K:BB across 25.2 frames into his next scheduled outing against the Cardinals, who have an unimposing .690 OPS versus left-handed pitching in the month of May.

Hunter Greene - Mixed results in third loss Greene (4-3) was charged with the loss Wednesday against the Royals after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out three.
Impact After fanning a season-low two his last time out, Greene registered his second-lowest strikeout output of the year Wednesday and tied a season worst with seven hits allowed. Even so, the hard-throwing right-hander was still able to toss at least five innings while giving up two runs or fewer for the sixth time in 10 starts this year. Greene will bring an impressive 2.63 ERA, 0.91 WHIP and 66:11 K:BB over 54.2 frames into his next scheduled outing versus the Brewers, who have struggled offensively with a .617 OPS through 26 games in May.

Cole Ragans - Throwing bullpen, rehab start soon Ragans is throwing a two-up bullpen Wednesday and is expected to make a rehab start this weekend if the bullpen session goes well, Anne Rogers of MLB.com reports.
Impact Ragans has been on the injured list since May 17 and becomes eligible for reinstatement Sunday, but it seems as though he'll need more time before rejoining the active roster. Assuming Wednesday's session goes as planned, Ragans will likely start out a rehab assignment. It's unclear if Ragans will require multiple starts, though.
