Impact This is as good as anyone could have hoped for when Martin was placed on the IL a couple weeks ago with shoulder inflammation. He has been throwing for a few days and could ramp up his activities soon. The homestand runs through April 29, and if he does return during that span, it will likely be towards the end of that final series against the Cubs.

Impact The fact that Martin is able to throw in some capacity represents a step forward for the righty, though he doesn't seem particularly close to returning to game action. In his absence, no righty has earned a save in Atlanta, with three going to Will Smith and one going to Sean Newcomb.

Impact He has been rehabbing his shoulder inflammation, but it is unclear when he will be able to start a throwing program. Will Smith hasn't necessarily been lights out as Atlanta's closer -- he is 2-for-2 on save chances but also has two losses and a 5.40 ERA through six appearances. Nobody appears ready to challenge Smith for saves at this juncture, however.
