Miles Mikolas - Team encouraged by MRIManager Mike Shildt said that Mikolas' right forearm is "structurally intact" after the 32-year-old underwent an MRI on Sunday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
ImpactAfter missing the first month and a half of the season with a sore shoulder, Mikolas finally returned from the 10-day injured list to make his season debut in Saturday's win over the Cubs. He was sharp over his four innings, but forearm tightness resulted in an early end to his start. The Cardinals moved him back to the IL a day later, and though Mikolas appears to have avoided a significant setback, he'll still likely need more than the minimum 10 days to recover from the injury. Johan Oviedo is the leading candidate to replace Mikolas in St. Louis' rotation.

Matt Duffy - Out Sunday with tight backCubs manager David Ross said Duffy is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals due to "low back tightness," Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
ImpactRoss seemed to suggest Duffy's injury is a day-to-day concern, so the 30-year-old could be available off the bench and may be ready to rejoin the lineup following Monday's team off day. Duffy has been an unsung hero for the Cubs this season, batting .278 with a home run and three stolen bases across 106 plate appearances.

Dylan Carlson - Not starting SundayCarlson (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cubs, Zachary Silver of MLB.com reports.
ImpactCarlson was a late scratch from the lineup ahead of Saturday's 2-1 win due to a tight back, and the young outfielder is apparently still hurting one day later. According to Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat, manager Mike Shildt said that Carlson required additional treatment Sunday, but the Cardinals are hopeful the 22-year-old will be available for the series finale in a pinch-hitting capacity. Lane Thomas will pick up the start in right field in Carlson's stead.
