Impact It wasn't an electric performance by any means, but the right-hander exited in line for the victory before the bullpen coughed up a three-run homer during the sixth innings. Gonzalez is in the rotation after working out of the bullpen for the first week of the season, and he lines up for another start next weekend against the Mets.

Impact Gonzalez has been working out of the bullpen for the first week of the season while the Rockies' schedule has allowed them to get by with a four-man rotation, but he'll transition into a starting role with Saturday's game marking Colorado's fifth in as many days. Over his 22 outings (16 starts) with the Rockies across parts of the last three seasons, Gonzalez has posted a 5.65 ERA, 1.51 WHIP and 5.1 K-BB% in 87.2 innings.

The Giants scored a pair of runs in the first and added one more in the second, but Gonzalez was able to keep San Francisco scoreless in his last 3.1 innings. The 28-year-old will finish the season with a record of 0-2 and a 6.86 ERA.

Takes loss Saturday Gonzalez (0-2) took the loss against the Dodgers on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and one walk over five innings while striking out two.

Impact Gonzalez did reasonably well against a potent Dodgers offense but was outshined by future Hall-of-Famer Clayton Kershaw to end up with the loss. The right-hander may have fared better if not for Dodgers utilityman Chris Taylor, who hit a triple and a a home run to account for all three runs against Gonzalez. It remains to be seen whether Gonzalez will stick in the rotation moving forward; if he does, his next start should come at San Francisco on Thursday.

Impact After failing to escape the first inning while giving up four runs in his last start Sept. 8, Gonzalez looked poise to move into a bullpen role. However, with Jon Gray (shoulder) having since been shut down for the season, the Rockies will give Gonzalez the opportunity to stick in the rotation for at least one more turn. The right-hander, who owns an 8.68 ERA and 1.82 WHIP over four outings this season, makes for an unappealing fantasy option against a powerful Los Angeles lineup.
