Heads to 60-day IL
The Rays transferred Roe (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
Impact
Roe had been placed on the 10-day injured list Monday after he was diagnosed with a strained right shoulder following his relief appearance against the Marlins three days earlier. Since he won't be cleared to throw for the next six weeks and could need an additional six weeks beyond that before being deemed ready for game action, the move to the 60-day IL likely won't affect his timeline for a return. Tampa Bay will hand Roe's 40-man roster spot to catcher Deivy Grullon, who was scooped up off waivers from the Reds on Tuesday.

Shut down for six weeks
Roe (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing for approximately six weeks, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact
Manager Kevin Cash initially announced Monday that Roe would be sidelined for 4-6 weeks, although the team has clarified that the right-hander will be shut down for about six weeks before he resumes throwing. As a result, Roe should be sidelined from game action for several months due to his shoulder strain. Chris Mazza was recalled to take his place in the bullpen, and Collin McHugh could also pitch in more high-leverage situations in Roe's absence.

Set to miss extended time
Roe (shoulder) will be sidelined 4-6 weeks, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact
Roe was placed on the 10-day injured list due to a shoulder strain Monday, and manager Kevin Cash said that the righty is also dealing with inflammation. With Roe facing a lengthy absence, Collin McHugh could serve in more high-leverage situations and earn some holds in the coming weeks.

Placed on injured list
Roe was placed on the 10-day injured list with a shoulder strain Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Impact
Roe made his season debut Friday and allowed two runs on one hit and one walk while striking out two over two-thirds of an inning against the Marlins. However, the right-hander dealt with shoulder tightness this spring and will now be forced to miss time during the regular season due to the issue. It's not yet clear when Roe will be able to return. The Rays recalled right-hander Chris Mazza in a corresponding move to take his place in the bullpen.

Returns to action Tuesday
Roe (shoulder) faced three hitters in Tuesday's 4-3 loss to the Orioles, striking out two and walking the other.
Impact
The Grapefruit League appearance was Roe's first in a week and a half after he had battled a tight shoulder of late. According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, Roe experienced no setbacks with the shoulder coming out of the appearance, so he looks on track to be a part of Tampa Bay's Opening Day bullpen.

Working through tight shoulder
Roe has been battling a tight shoulder for the past few days but is feeling better and should get back on the mound soon, Neil Solondz of the Rays Radio Network reports.
Impact
Roe was limited to just 9.1 innings last season due to arm issues, though those were located in his elbow. Another battle with arm troubles certainly isn't a good thing for the 34-year-old, though it sounds like this particular problem isn't a serious one.

Bounces back in second outing
Roe fired a perfect fourth inning in a Grapefruit League loss to the Twins on Saturday, recording a strikeout.
Impact
The veteran had gotten banged around for three earned runs on two hits and a hit batsman over an inning against Minnesota in his Grapefruit League debut Wednesday, so Saturday's outing was a nice bit of atonement. Roe has been an integral part of the middle-relief corps in Tampa Bay for the last three seasons with 57 holds and three saves across 91 appearances, and he figures to carry another heavy workload in 2021.

Impact
Add Roe to the list of prominent Rays pitchers that have hit the injured list this season as he is the latest to go down. The right-hander is dealing with right elbow soreness but could be able to return to the bullpen by the end of next weekend. Roe picked up his first save of the season Tuesday as he was just beginning to earn manager Kevin Cash's trust in late innings.
